Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I don't think guns make people safer, no matter how much enjoyment you get out of them. The statistics just don't bear that out. But damn, they're fun to shoot.

With too many people I've seen, an increase in caliber is inversely proportional to their brains.

Always Anti-fascist!

I could see this. Also, I think a lot of people have an inflated sense of how well they'd be able to respond if shooting broke out. I have yet another favorite de Becker story about guns. Sometime in the 90s Texas was debating some kind of open-carry law(like the crazy AZ one); De Becker was testifying "Fuck, no," but just for fun he asked some pros why they were in favor.

"Gotta be prepared." they said."You never know when some maniac's gonna shoot up the place."

"So," De Becker said. " I bet you can do the heimlich or perform an emergency tracheotomy too, right? Cause that's WAY likelier in a restaurant than gunfire.(he used a lot more words than that.)

Pro-Gun said "Euw...I'd have to *touch* somebody,or put stuff in their throats...I don't want the responsibility for that!"

De becker said" Ok, so you just want the responsibility of filling them full of projectiles at 100 mph then. good luck with that." and stole a bit of my heart.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Ugh—a "get off my side" moment just happened at work. A coworker forwarded an Obama health care forum invitation, complete with big, red "donate" button on the bottom. I support Obama's attempts to get health care legislation passed, Asclepius knows, but she's sending around official, partisan emails with official, partisan fund raising links included. If a coworker had done that with one of Bush's things (Support the Iraq invation or whatever) I would have been furious. What's more, we're an organization that gets a ton of Federal contracts. We're really not supposed to do that sort of thing.

I have guns. If the conservatives ever get the country they want, I'm going to need them.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Would it get in the way of learning to read actual Hebrew later?

I really don't know.

Our wings are not tired.

These ultra-rightwingers, who want no government and no taxes, but lots and lots of guns, SHOULD MOVE TO SOMALIA. No government or taxes there, and plenty of guns.

Excellent point. It's also Libertarianism at its best.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Barb, you have my sympathy. My mom is here today, trying to be helpful, but I'd really like her to go so that I can feel lousy in peace.

“Not dead yet!”

Aw, sj, I'm sorry too. Here, come join me in my fantasy:

Adark, cool room with an incredibly fluffy bed and no sound other than that of a ceiling fan whirring.

Just... silence.

Maybe a lovely Cabana Boy named Lars who dispenses drinks and massages.

Someone remind me that trepanation is NOT a good headache solution. It's starting to sound v. v. appealing.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

With too many people I've seen, an increase in caliber is inversely proportional to their brains.
also, increase in caliber usually results in decrease ability to control the weapon.

Hold on, as is Hebrish? Oh, we could totally do that!
Oooh! That could make it easier to learn. In the few lessons we had on Skype, I was totally writing in down in my version of phonetics. Doubt it was correct, but it helped me pronounce the words better.

ION- I know I work in theater. But. Can I have less dramatic people to work with. k. thnx.
