"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hmph. You get victory-over-bureaucracy points, but not annoying-task points.

Accepted!

A bit later they divided into teams of three and one of the guys said his team was himself, Kyle, and "little dude". So Leif got to be on a team as "little dude".

Way to go middle school kids! Way to go little dude!

Scanwiches

I like the unvarying rigor of the cross-section shots.

Damn those look tasty. Who's having scanwiches sandwiches for lunch today?

t baseball geek Who's following the World Baseball Classic?

Netherlands beat the Dominican Republic!

Australia beat Mexico!

Italy looked pretty good!

South Africa is still extremely pathetic. But go them in a Jamaican bobsled kind of way.

Punishingly Intricate

Who's having scanwiches sandwiches for lunch today?

Turkey club from Jimmie's! Not a great sandwich but an old standby. Total comfort food. Although I don't really need comforting today.

like a DMV visit.

Hey, remember when I visited SF to look unsuccessfully for a job in Oakland* and we had to go to the police station and the DMV, neither of which could even help me at all?

Good times, man.

ETA: Dude. That was actually a completely different SF trip when I lost my license at the Grand Canyon. Wow, my relationship with that city was ill-fated from the start.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I had no sandwich! I had sushi. And chips. And some donut holes.

I am shocked and appalled to see more than one pastrami sandwich with mayo on that blog. And I love mayo!

Speaking of blogs, last night my mother asked me (1) what's Twitter, and (2) if I read blogs. I was like, isn't everything a blog now??

Hey! Speaking of the Grand Canyon, what's near enough by it to combine into a vacation for non-outdoorsy types, aside from Las Vegas? (My parents and I are talking about a family vacation, and I had to remind my mother why Banff probably isn't the right place for us....)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I'm just finishing up a bowl of oatmeal. A sandwich is a possibility for dinner, though.

I blame the Grand Canyon.

Paging megan walker! (Who had a long trip through the SW last fall, and had many recommendations.)

There's lots of stuff in Arizona alone -- Desert Museum in Tucson, Petrified Forest, Devil's Canyon, and just driving through the landscape. I LOVE Arizona.
