I seem to have just purchased a number of OMD dance remixes. I'm not sure I really need an 11 minute version of Souvenir.

As usual, I want to have xkcd's little stick-figure babies. [link]
So I have a stupid tax-related question. Do I need to put IRA and 403b related information on my tax return, or is that just dumb because of course the whole point is that they're not taxable until I withdraw the money?
The fact that I haven't worried about this before tells me I probably haven't reported such info in the past and did fine. I just feel confused.
403b, no. Roth IRA, no. Not-a-Roth IRA, yes, but that's not what you have if it's taxable on withdrawal, and anyway they would've sent you forms to submit if it were. d'oh, see what Ginger said.
Ooookay. Well, all the IRAs have been doing is steadily bleeding money (and in one case stealing it slowly with fees), so it's not like I'll owe the IRS if I don't report it and it turns out I was supposed to.
If you're putting pretax money in, you want to tell the IRS how much, because it reduces your taxable income. Once you've reported what you put in, the next time the IRS wants to know anything is when you take it out.
I'm not putting any money in anymore -- these are all from previous jobs. I just haven't gotten around to consolidating them. Thanks, everybody! I guess I AM done with my taxes.
Emily, listen to what Ginger said re IRAs -- with 403b contributions, there's less taxable income on your W2 to begin with. But for IRAs, you should report. And I should avoid financial questions before coffee.
I am doing an empty cycle on my new washing machine. Yay.
Also, I got a letter from my oil company saying that they are reducing my monthly payments on my budget plan from $300/month to $70/month for the rest of my payment year. That's how off they were estimating oil prices.
Belated thanks to Typo Boy for that Amanda Marcotte essay on abuser/abused relationships.
Today I just want to resign from the human race, and I know I should go out to a networking meeting for job seekers and try to look employable when I'm filled with capital-D Despair.
