"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

DH got a decent annual raise and a pretty generous bonus today.

Please don't feel guilty. It's just great to see good news.

I can't hear conversation over background noise, which just adds to my general antisocialness. I just smile and nod.

Because books.

I couldn't hear the teenage noise either. I've also noticed lately that I hear ringing a lot of the time, which could be ... I don't know, maybe sinus stuff? I hope?

Ann, that's a ferret.

I also have problems hearing over background noise. On the other hand, when an ambulance sped by while I was out walking, I wasn't the one sticking fingers in the ears.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Not only do I hear the teenager sound, I remember hearing it as a teenager, being bugged, and getting annoyed that no one knew what I was talking about. (We lived in thin-walled apartments. Heaven only knows the source.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I can hear the teenager sound!

Actually, I was surprised - I expected to hear a much higher pitch. Because I can hear much higher pitches.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Tinnitus? I've had it for years. My ears always ring. I thought it was getting in the way of my hearing, but I had it tested and I was okay.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I'm confused, what is the teenager sound?

It's like a dog whistle for kids. [link]

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I got online in 95 when I started grad school and got a computer of my very own

Same situation for me, different year: 1991.

ACK! Invasion of the 6th graders! Laters!

So it's just an annoyance I should get used to? Ugh. It drives me nuts.
