Rachel Maddow used the Flying Spaghetti Monster as her entry into her story on Darwin!!! And it wasn't just a brief cameo shoutout, but a detailed description of Pastafarianism (although she never used that term, unfortunately), including its devotion to pirates.

Just caught the end of Serenity on Sci Fi. I am reminded again of how much I adore Zoe.

Don't google hyena...I can't recall if it is is sex or birth. One of them is highly disturbing.

I suspect many people would find both of them highly disturbing.

Sykes to entertain at Correspondents' Association Dinner

Wanda Sykes will headline the annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner this spring, Yeas & Nays has learned.

Sykes, who was born in Virginia and raised in Maryland, did her first-ever stand-up show in D.C.

She's known for her roles on Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers," HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine," in addition to her solo work.

Sykes follows in the footsteps of Craig Ferguson, Rich Little and Stephen Colbert, who have headlined the star-studded dinner in recent years.

Sykes is not only a huge fan of President Obama, but she's also gotten quite politically active of late. She came out as a lesbian shortly after the election, and appeared at rallies protesting California's Proposition 8, which made gay marriage illegal.

And don't expect her to be bipartisan. Appearing on "The Tonight Show" last year, she said watching the Republican Convention was "like watching a meeting in Dr. Evil's lair. ... It was like all of the evil people got together, and they were having an evil board meeting. ... And each of them, you know, at the board meeting all got up, and each one would tell their plan of how they're gonna, what they're going to do with the evil."

I have had a bit of a week. We are supposed to go out of town tomorrow/Saturday, but Franny started to get sick Tuesday night. Kept her home yesterday but no big deal. Decided to keep her home again today just to give her rest. This afternoon? Fever over 103. Poor noodle.

ita! I was thinking about you at work today because two of my coworkers independently decided to form a Joy Committee Junta and overthrow my reign of terror.

Also, I went to the social security office today, and the place reeks of pot and despair. If I ever get married, I might just keep my name rather than go back there. And I hate my name.

Joy Committee Junta, eh. What does that involve exactly? Do they strong-arm coworkers for donations so they can buy Sees?

Speaking of Sees... I *knew* I was forgetting something. I need candy.
