Also, this recession is global, so it's not just US firms that are cutting back, but it's all multinational firms, including all the oil companies working in Alberta, and the automotive industry is cutting thousands of jobs in Ontario.
Yeah, a mom of a friend has worked her whole life on a Chevy factory floor outside Toronto. They're worried, she's not retirement age yet, and she doesn't have skills outside the assembly line. (Friend used to work summers and vacations there, which back in the day, set her up good. )
Argh! I was going to stay up later than I should to watch Top Chef, but the feed or whatever is completely effed up. I think I'm going to set it to tape a later airing and go to bed. Hmph.
If you were asked to name the "traditional Valentine's Day colors", what would they be? (settling an argument...)
Red and white? Maybe pink?
Um, red and...red?
Valentine's colors = red and pink.
There's a sculpture in the Children's Garden at Huntington Gardens that we like. Here is three pics of Noah over time at the apple: [link] It just shocks me.
Ok, you guys are restoring my faith in humanity. Two people at work were insisting that red and black were the traditional colors. Like red and green are for Christmas. I said red and pink. I mean a little black wouldn't be out of place on a card, or a tuxedo or something, but it isn't even a color!
BLACK? Like, the color of doom and death?
Yes- they said if they were giving a loved one a Valentine's card it would be black with red writing, or red roses with a black ribbon. Which might be nice for some, but I wouldn't call it tradition. They said red and black were sexy colors like you would wear for a tango!
