(cross posted with Tech) Has anybody bought iphone earbuds that they like?

I hope someone has a recommendation, because the MP3 player I just bought has horrendous ones that I desperately need to replace.

Because books.

I can't wear earbuds, Perkins, so I don't know. I think my ears are actually too small -- every pair I've ever tried has hurt.

This is also awesome--Salma Hayek breast-feeds an African baby

While being filmed by a "Nightline" camera crew on a recent humanitarian mission in Sierra Leone, actress Salma Hayek came across the starving baby of a woman unable to breast-feed. What is an international sex symbol to do in such a situation? Why, pop out a breast on camera and nurse that baby, damn it. Top that, Angelina!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Kathy's a skimmer, pass it on.

Matt, did you see the photos of the koala that climbed into a tub of water that some kids filled for him? How do you not anthropomorphize in situations like that?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Heh. No harm, no foul.

PETA reaches new heights of offensiveness.

Jesus. They're nuts. I liked this bit of the story:

Earlier, a man strode away yelling, “That’s disgusting! I’m going to buy more fur!”

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

PETA has been nuts for years. They are much more about getting publicity than about actually helping animals. (Like, there's been at least one case where they broke into a lab and released the animals, who of course all died because they didn't know how to survive in the wild.)

Now tagless for your comfort.

Go Salma! That's awesome!

The firefighter sharing his water with the koala broke me.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

PETA reaches new heights of offensiveness.

Jesus. They're nuts.

That's even worse than sea kittens.

I'm starting to think that PETA is run by a lone weirdo in a windowless room who sends out memos to the rank-and-file members, ordering them to do this shit, just to see how massively weird of an idea it's going to take to get the rank-and-file members to balk.

(Okay, I don't, but it sort of seems like it, doesn't it? I have this image of some dude sitting around, thinking, "I know! I'll tell them to dress like Klansmen! They'll NEVER do that...what? They DID? Oooookay -- maybe they'll really wear SS uniforms, then.")
