See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

What do people from other parts of the country call it?

Emmett has always called it a Suicide Soda (and so, I presume, have all his friends).

Though I consider his school a little linguistically shady--it's full of the kids of Cal alums and grad students, hence full of transplants from all over the country (everyone at his school also calls rock-paper-scissors "roshambo," which none of the second or third-generation CA natives I know had ever, ever heard of until a couple of years ago).

Count me as not surprised the Republicans in Congress worked extra hard to keep Daschle from becoming SecHHS. He was hoisted by his own petard, but I'm sure the Repubs are breathing a sigh of relief.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Huh. I'd never heard it called Roshambo until I moved here. Relatedly, we called the mixed-up sodas Suicides or Kamikazes.

Always Anti-fascist!

My mom grew up here and calls mixed soda a "suicide" as well.

A little bit of everything? (Missed the original question) Yep, that is what K-Bug and her friends called it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Here's a radio show featuring discussion of suicides (the soda mix): [link]

Yay, someone else has heard of this term! I thought it was maybe just a Chicago area thing.

That's a word I've only started hearing a few years ago, too. I think I first heard it while watching the World Series of Poker a few summers ago--they had a "Roshambo" mini-tournament in the middle of the poker playing. We always called it "rock-paper-scissors."

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I certainly hope that's Rochambeau.

I have never heard of the soda thing.

In related regional beverage news, I refuse to call a half & half an Arnold Palmer.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm pretty sure the only place I've seen roshambo used for rock-paper-scissors is on this board.

Today is the first time I had ever heard of a Suicide.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I refuse to call a half & half an Arnold Palmer.

Guinness and Harp is called an Arnold Palmer? What weird-ass, golf-obessed part of the world does THAT?
