"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yup, I like that one a lot. Of course I laughed pretty extensively at NBC's own "Feelin Alright" ad.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oof. I'm emotionally wrung out. One of three coaches on Emmett's tournament/all-star team died suddenly ten days ago. This is somebody I spent every weekend with during the summer for the last four years. Emmett was close with Fred, and also good friends with Fred's son, Alex. (Also on the all-star and travel teams.)

All the baseball families got together last night for a small memorial/get together about Fred. It was very moving but tearful.

And today there was a public memorial and it was HUGE. He was a big part of the community and probably 2,000 people turned out for this. The Veterans Memorial Hall was packed.

Anyway, we're hunkered down switching back and forth between Puppy Bowl and Super Bowl now. I'm about to start on the beer, or possibly gin since Teppy's in another state.

“Not dead yet!”

Oh, Hec, my sympathies. I remember when JZ mentioned his passing. It's wonderful that he was so loved and appreciated by the community, but after last week with Lewis' Uncle David, I certainly understand what an emotional drain something like that can be.

I say go for the gin.

I'm so sorry to hear that, David. What a sad loss.

I'm sorry to hear that, Hec. I've spent enough time at my nieces' games to know how much the parents bond.

ION, I'm looking for a pair of fashionable but not trendy black pumps for work stuff. What do we think about these? [link]

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Oooh, I like those 'Suela. Franco Sartos are one of my goto brands, they fit very well and are some of the most comfortable shoes for me that I've found.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I'm sorry, Hec.

Consuela, I have those shoes,or something very very similar from that maker, and they are very comfortable.

I love Franco Sartos, I have several pairs of their loafers, but I haven't tried their pumps yet.

“Not dead yet!”

Like the shoes, 'Suela.

Okay, Pepsi just lost points with their "diet cola for Men" commercial which was completely stupid.

The Budweiser commercials with the Clydesdales are breaking me, as usual.

Also loved the Pedigree pet adoption commercial. "Bad bird!"

Arizona needs to get it going. (Yes, I'm actually watching the game as well.)
