Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

I hope some news person (Rachel Maddow, I mean you) is having their staff make up a chart to track all the things Obama is reversing in his first 100 days.

I remember seeing a link to one of the political blogs (Pam Spaulding's, maybe?) that had a list of all of Obama's executive orders.

It was nice to see his labor EOs today, considering he still doesn't have a Labor Secretary confirmed.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I was wondering when and where Obama would make his first foreign trip.... Obama To Canada On First Foreign Trip As President

On his first trip abroad, President Obama will make a traditional trip to Canada in his first few weeks as President. The date for the trip is just a few weeks away, set for February 19.

It's traditional for new presidents to go to Canada first? Man, the things I don't know....

My pig is ready! I ordered a side of pork (to share with 4 other households) through a local grower's association and it is ready already. 107 pounds of pork. I am expecting to be boggled, but it's kind of cool. We'll have a pork-dividing party tomorrow after I go pick it up.

I'm having flashbacks to "Little House in the Big Woods," when they have their pig butchering party.

So, who gets the pig's tail?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, thank goodness -- I just realized that a project that needs just a couple of hours more work is actually a postmark deadline of Monday, not a receipt deadline of Monday. All is saved!

And by "all," I mean, all the people I am about to stab, which is pretty much everyone at this point on a Friday after a long week.

Or play with the bladder ball?!

So there was this huge problem we identified oh, about 4 months ago. And we concluded it was a problem. And now it looks like maybe it isn't a problem afterall, at least not in the cases we thought it was. Doesn't explain the problem that made us think it would be a problem (which is still a problem,) though. So I have a lot of egg on my face, and I am not sure how it got there.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I have over 2" of invoices on my desk that no one will sign off on so they can't go in for payment. I have another 2" or so on someone else's desk waiting for them to sign off, but even if they came and did that posthaste, I could not get them in for payment because my boss ignored my email asking permission to stamp them in his absence. No one gets paid today.

Ouch.

So I have a lot of egg on my face, and I am not sure how it got there.

Ugh.

Our senior staff is in an all-day meeting on Monday, so I plan to have plenty of time to take care of my own stuff. Maybe I will even clean out my in-box! That is usually my Friday afternoon task, but I have a million deadlines just now (mostly met).
