Some of the people who got the first run of coupons couldn't buy boxes before the coupons expired because stores either weren't carrying them yet, or didn't order enough.
That would be me. I'm a tool who didn't realize that they expired. Truly, my own fault for not reading all the details closely. (Note that I'm NOT blaming the government or broadcasters, etc. I realize full well that my slack-ass-ed-ness is to blame for me having to spend $60 instead of $20.)
Religious schools frequently have rules that students have to abide by the rules of that religion.
Yes, but shouldn't that apply to behaviors, not, I don't know, states of being? Caught kissing on school grounds, okay. Identifying oneself as a lesbian? Ugh. Private school, I know, but still.
And, of course, they'd have been in the same situation in the US military, so not like public institutions are covered in glory.
Oh, wait, duh. I don't need a new TV because we have satellite; if I want to watch HDTV, I'll need a new TV.

Some Jewish schools require that all students be Jewish. (Some require only one Jewish parent, some require the child be Jewish according to Jewish law, and some require two Jewish parents, even though a child of a Jewish mother and a non-Jewish father is Jewish according to Jewish law.) A bunch of Christian colleges require students and faculty to sign a statement of faith.
Snowpocalypse has turned to Slushpocalypse with a side of flooding around here.
Frickin' DTV conversion. I keep forgetting about it. I guess I need to buy a new TV, and freecycle the old one.
OK, you know you only need the converter if you have no cable at all? people with rabbit ears and antennas. That's it.
Yeah, no, I figured that out after I actually read the website.
Yay! My work here is done.
Who loves you, baby?:
Post-partisanship lives. The stimulus package just passed the House, with the billions in corporate tax cuts, without the money to re-sod the National Mall, without the money for family planning for poor people, and without one Republican vote. Without one. Final vote was 244-188 as 11 "Democrats" crossed over.
I'm actually glad about this - I think it's not a bad thing for Obama to get an object lesson in how sincere the Republican leadership is when they ask for concessions in return for "bipartisan" support.
I opened my retirement fund statement. Uhg. I could've handled being an ostrich a little longer.
