All a reporter needs is one person to say X, Y, or Z. The reporter takes the quote and claims the whole organization feels the same way.
I don't know State to suggest how the employees feel about the changeover. But I can believe that Rice was highly unpopular, what with (1) Defense taking over so much of the lead on foreign policy, and (2) things like, "Go to Baghdad or you're fired!"
I hate to post questions when I'm at work and hence likely to get distracted, but what is up with Caroline Kennedy? What happened?

There are various rumors [link]
What happened?
So far, I've only heard speculation: [link]
I just can't imagine four years without e-mail. I'm not a particularly high-tech sort, and it occurs to me that e-mail sent to and from an isolated server and moved elsewhere for archiving would be of minimal risk, and I'm sure some of y'all have better ideas.
Can't Cheney erase computers just by walking by them? I can see him saying "Are you sure there was a memo about that?" and then there'd be a flash and a whiff of sulphur
Lisa and Bob are so cute.
I’m gonna be asking a lot of you, I want you to think outside the proverbial box.
Dear NASA: Please send that damn box to Mars. Thank you.
Thanks Tom and Trudy. I had read the article in NYT, which was what prompted me to write. I guess I was just surprised at the weirdness of how quickly things went from published rumor to out-on-her-ass.
My guess is she was not going to be chosen (any number of reasons) and they let her know so that she could withdraw. Then unable to keep the line simple and just refuse to offer any explination, people in her camp looked to Ted's health as a easy out, now the supposition of unpaid taxes on domestic help (que shocker). My gut is she was never gonna get it and her camp is just not politic enough to keep up a solid front.
I think she was out before the rumors got published, no? She "removed herself from consideration," I think to preempt him telling her she didn't get the job.
I started to cry in the car again when they said "President Obama."
I cry every single time I read or watch something about him, and all I'm doing is reading and watching things about him. I've wanted this since July of 2004. I can't believe it's finally happened.
Today I made this my work computer's background, so that I can periodically remind myself that BUSH IS NO LONGER PRESIDENT.
That's what's actually harder for me to get through my head than the fact that Obama is President.
