praying mantis = cool , but walking sticks are cooler.
this weekend: DH is on duty so not much. But the guy who is doing our patio did an out lint -- and he isn't thinking big enough. We will remove some plants and make the outline of it. And tonight we will eat tamales...yum.
RIP Walter Cronkite.
He was sort of like a national grandfather when I was a kid.
Walter Cronkite died. It seems fitting to happen with the moon walk anniversary; he was such a space program geek.
I had the pleasure of meeting him once...he was every bit as great and encouraging as you might expect.
Oh my. Bless Walter Cronkite's soul on its passage.
Man, you guys, the last time I talked to my mom was around 2:00 today (it's 9:15 now), and I really wish she'd call with an update on my stepdad's father. I called mom's house around 8:00, but got voice mail. I don't want to call her cell if she's at the hospital.
Not hearing anything makes me assume the worst. I shouldn't, but it's so easy to do in these situations. Gah.
The world lost something important the day Cronkite stepped down from the CBS Evening News. Now we have to lose him all over again.
Erika, that's way cool. How did you meet him?
Okay, mom just called me and told me that for right now, stepdad's father is stable -- still in serious condition, still in the ICU, but he's stable for now. The reason I got her voice mail at home is because she and my stepdad were at a church festival playing blackjack. Heh.
Which I think is a *good* thing -- it's been a crazy stressful day for them, and if stepdad's father is stable, then they need to chill.
So everything is in a holding pattern right now, which is okay, I guess.
