Congratulations, Nilly! So many big life events happening for you.
My mother is cleaning my house. I'm trying to feel guilty about it
I'm sure she's loving it!
If she's anything like my mother she is. Once when my mom was visiting, I came home from work and she was sweeping the street in front of my place. I still give her shit for that one.
Will you be moving to his place or getting a new place together?
His place, at least for the coming year. He rents a tiny place (who used to be a - um, what's the word for it? - cow-house before it was renovated and all the smell removed) in a small town that is somewhere in the middle between his work, up north, and the family-friends-where-I-teach-currently-at-least, in the center. There'll have to be quite a bit of re-organizing this place for me to move in it, but he seems to like this idea, so that's OK.
Do you need things for the wedding? Do you need things before the wedding?
There are lots and lots of stuff to do, arrange, get, bureaucratize, run after and try to accomplish on time and without stressing people over. Two months is not an un-heard-of short time (in Israeli religious couples' standard) in order to arrange everything, but it's not on the long side, either.
Also, msbelle, you're just great. For the record.
Wave to her if you see her!
I would love to! Congrats to her!
Oh, and I am ridiculously glad that I managed to post before sarameg left for her trip (I hope you have a wonderful time!).
(Honestly, I just posted that because I know he's Sephardic with a huge family, so I would have laughed and laughed if you were going to the wedding or something...)
And that American honeymoon? Hmmm, Nilly?
He rents a tiny place (who used to be a - um, what's the word for it? - cow-house before it was renovated and all the smell removed)
Barn.
But now I like the term "cow-house."
I am, of course, picturing the Cow Palace.
Best wishes, Nilly!
I'm glad to know there wasn't a big engagement story cause I'd feel bad skimming past it, if I had.
Jesse, I can safely assume that somebody I know is going to be at that wedding. In Israel, it's not 6 degrees of separation, but rather something like "between any two people there is at least one common acquaintance".
...Will you two be honeymooning, Oh, I don't know, in the States, perhaps?
My best friend (who is a mutual friend) is currently doing her Post-Doc in the USA (and is very grateful that I decided to marry somebody she knows as long as I do, in order to satisfy her curiosity). The original plan was for me to visit her this summer, but now I'm going to be too busy in the next couple of months, this trip is going be postponed.
And, yes, "postponed" means that it's still definitely a possibility.
He is very much into hiking, and there are some beautiful places for it in the USA, so he's all for it.
[Edit: thanks, tommy!]
Congratulations, Nilly and Khusband-to-be!
Congratulations Nilly! I am so happy for both of you.
