And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Now watching small child dance in front of the mirror to old Muppet Show musical numbers. (Current favorite "Hugga Wugga")

I look more rad than Lutheranism

It's a 2008 model, so I found it for ~$220. With an extra battery and my impatient 2- to 3-day shipping, it was around $260 total.

I still have to work on the best settings for landscapes, groups/parties, etc., but it seems pretty good.

To *me,* it's a small camera, particularly compared to my old one. However, it's not small like an Elph camera. It has an enormous LCD screen that works well even in bright sunlight, which is good, because it has no optical viewfinder (which I knew when I bought it, and that was a tradeoff for the 10x optical zoom and overall quality; I really would have preferred having an optical viewfinder, but the LCD screen should be fine, even if it eats batteries).

Our wings are not tired.

Salmon with grilled fennel & tomato salsa for dinner: 100% (yum!)

Recipe please?

Jess, have you downloaded the epicurious app? I LOVE it. I left some Ahi steaks out Friday morning to defrost and forgot to look for a recipe Friday at work. So when I was in the grocers, I clicked on the little app, put in "Ahi steaks" and it came up with a recipe (19 recipes, actually, though more if you put in "tuna steaks"). I love the way you can immediately have it translate the recipe into the shopping list, too. Worked great on the fly. Picked up the tomatoes and onions, basil out of the garden....was YUM!

Speaking of pics, some of ours from the trip so far:

Salmon was just fillets done on the grill the CI way (in little foil boats so they don't stick to the grill - a pat of butter on top, little salt & pepper, cover the grill and they cook in about 8 minutes)

The salsa is:

  • 1 bulb fennel, in 1" slices
  • 1 vidalia onion, same
  • 3-4 tomatoes, halved

For all these, season & brush with EVOO before grilling until nicely charred and softened.

When done, chop & dress with zest & juice of 1 lemon, 1 tbsp fresh chopped dill, more salt & pepper if needed. If your grill is NOT four flights of stairs away from your kitchen, you can chop them in the food processor for a more salsa-like texture.)

I also made some couscous to soak up the extra juices. It was just about a perfect outdoor meal.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wow. I'm researching ministries of health of Caribbean countries for my sister, and I just hit up Grenada. Now, at least the page is there, unlike Barbados, whose is missing, but it's rife with grammatical errors. "Devine creator" indeed. "Socail security." Ouch. "Devine creator" is in that section because apparently ecclesiastical services fall under the aegis of the Ministry of Health. Interesting intersection.

I think I need a break.
