Juliebird, imeem made the incredibly brilliant move to take down all user-uploaded vids and photos with no "hey, we're going to shut down this part of the site" notice to the actual uploaders and almost no warning at all (and only then if you happened to stumble across the post on their corporate blog a few days before everything came down). It's something of an understatement to say that the vidding community was Not Pleased.

There's been a lot of discussion on the LJ vidding community about where people are moving to, but I think a lot of moves are still in process. Sigh. Fuck imeem. I hope the rumors that they're desperately short of cash are true.
