Mal: Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us? Zoe: Big damn heroes, sir.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Was down on the Mall for the 4th, and yes, it was insanely crowded. Weather was nice for once.(Last few years have seen thunderstorms at some point during the day)

Had a dream involving zombies(or something like them) and people alternately trying to hide from them or trying to figure out how to kill them. My brain is odd...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That eye tooth situation is BONKERS.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm wondering if it's some sort of made-up story -- I'll misbelieve until I see more stories from other science/health sites that don't cite it but have other information. (There's not enough technical details in the story to convince me it would work, or there would be other methods, like a corneal transplant that would work better.)

“Not dead yet!”

Oy, having to buy clothes mostly online for the kids right now-- they're both big for their ages and their tastes actually run towards real kidswear, not Streetwalker and Thug Lite.

Thank God for Lands End, is all I can say. Even L.L. Bean failed me here with respect to Nate.

Coding and Sleeping

Leif just told me he wanted a bow and some flaming arrows. I told him I didn't think that was a good idea. We don't storm castles on Sundays.

Good plan.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Well, The Telegraph is pretty narrow-minded and conservative as broadsheets go, but it's not The Weekly World News. I mean, I don't think they'd run something like that if it was some spurious piece of nonsense. They're not an 'Aliens Ate My Baby' kind of publication. They're more a "We miss good old Maggie Thatcher" flavour of evil.

That said, the whole eyeteeth situation is making my head explode with the OMGWTF crazy disturbing SciFiness.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

At Wimbledon, there's no tie-breaker in the fifth set , right?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh, hey, Fay - I've been reading some Iain M. Banks lately, and I saw that you mentioned him in Literary. I'm close to finishing Matter, and before that I read Consider Phlebas. Then I need something else by him to read. I think I'll stick to the Culture novels for now - any recommendations on what to read next?

Well, that answers that question.
