Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

What possessed me to go out on a hot and humid afternoon and clip hedges for an hour? I'm wiped out, and I still have to go to my sister's b-day party.

Hedges look good, though.

“Not dead yet!”

What possessed me to go out on a hot and humid afternoon and clip hedges for an hour?

Same craxiness that possessed me to take the kids to the pool in the 97 degree weather. Ultimately, good choice since we were there for two hours, they frolicked and cavorted, came home just in time for massive afternoon thunderstorm. But everyone's bathed, fed, and happy to hang out for the rest of the day.

Sitting around, waiting for my mattress to get here. And doing laundry. Went out and got extra pillows and a mattress pad earlier today. Would like the mattress to get here because I have other errands I want to run, but there wasn't time this morning.

Also got a neat box in the mail today.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

What the hell, Sarah Palin?

She's not only not running for re-election, she's leaving office right now?

Our wings are not tired.

Yup, at the end of the month!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Have fun at the zoo, msbelle! Kat, I've been reading here and there about your vacation--so much fun.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'll pass them on to DH, when he emerges from his Vicodin haze. He's been passing kidney stones for three days now, and the V he got yesterday means he's finally getting enough relief to sleep.

The house is coming into enough shape that I'm learning what we need to bring from NC to finish it--two pictures for the living room, for one. It will be a three-piece narrative hung the way I want, but we only have one piece with us, the other two are in NC. One, a print, needs frame and mat, the other, oil on canvas, needs reframing. I can't wait to see it realized, but I'm going to have to wait till end of November, at least.

Ah well. Another day, another box unpacked...

I do not understand this Palin thing at all. I am waiting for someone to explain it to me.

Oh please let it be some sort of upcoming scandal. Don't let her try to start campaigning for 2012 in Iowa early. Don't make me look into moving...

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm betting scandal of some sort about to break. Announcing the resignation right before the holiday weekend so the news will get buried. Not sure what the scandal could be, though -- I mean, there was tons of stuff that came up during the campaign that didn't seem to faze her.

“Not dead yet!”

This is an update from CBS timed 3:44 PM

[link] Sarah Palin has announced that she will resign as governor of Alaska and will not seek a second term.

CBS Affiliate KTVA reports that at a press conference this morning Palin said she will resign the governorship within a few weeks.

CBSNews.com producer Scott Conroy, who covered Palin's vice presidential campaign last year, confirmed through a source close to the governor said she is leaving office.

Earlier today, a holiday, Palin sent out an early morning press release indicating that she would be making an announcement from her home in Wasilla.

Joining Palin were her parents, family and state commissioners.

Palin said that power will be transferred to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell, who will be sworn in during the upcoming governor's picnic in Fairbanks.

She did not field questions, and would not give any indications about her future plans.

According to USA Today, she'll be stepping down on July 26th.
