Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Veterinarians tell tales of families bringing in their cats or dogs and asking what the six evenly spaced hairless bumps are. Clearly more people need a refresher on 'mammalian characteristics' and what they imply.
Happy Happy JZ Day!!!
We had a cranky toddler sighting at the bookstore--she was upset because she didn't get the book she wanted and cried and cried until her dad was taking her out.
I was very suddenly woken up with a massive charlie horse in my right calf--boy, did that hurt!! It was tender for a while this morning.
Work was pretty dead--not a good sign for the rest of the summer. And, I have to work next Saturday, July 4; I had made the mistake of assuming we'd be closed. Oh, well, I don't have plans until the 5th (Mundelein holiday parade, which goes past my friend's house and is fun to watch).

Happy birthday, JZ!
There does seem to be an inverse relationship between the intelligence needed for one's academic field and common sense.
Absolutely. I work with a ton of engeineers. My father is an engineer with his PhD. They prove this theory daily.
On the other hand, this theory is what keeps me in a job. I help the engineers handle the administrative side of their projects. While they may know their technical stuff inside and out, handling the internal project management stuff is HARD.

I was going to object to the stereotyping. But, well. t glances into kitchen Yeah.
However! I was just talking to my mother, and we were planning something for vacation that will require my sister and me driving somewhere, and she was worried because she didn't think that either of us knew how to get where we were going, and we'd be in the car that doesn't have the GPS system. I said, "Getting directions is easy enough." She said, "How?" I said, "Find out the address, go to google maps, type it in, ..." and she said, "Oh! I'd forgotten that you can get directions without the GPS!"
So I feel slightly better now.
Noticing that the animals are starving to death while the rest of the family is away isn't hard.
Happy Birthday, JZ!
I just had to convince my PhD mother that I had sent her a message via Skype and that she could reply to it. The only reason she worked it out was because I wouldn't leave her alone until she did. Splice genes, she can. Find text input box, NSM.
