I've been watching the Michael Jackson coverage for hours now. Sad. What a tragic figure. Although he wasn't much younger than me, I always had a protective mothering type reaction to him. So talented. So damaged.
Watching with my family there was conjecture that Ryan O'Neal must be pissed that the Farrah coverage disappeared. And of course Gov Sanford breathes a sigh of relief for the distraction. Who knew I was raised among such cynics?
Actually, 2 network channels are airing Farrah stuff. Ryan O'Neal comes off as totally in love with her. I hadn't realized that he was the actor playing Bones' dad (I didn't know his name and face.)
The 3 teenage boys here had no idea who Farrah was. I assured them that all their dads surely did. I didn't watch her special, but it was clear from the coverage I had seen how devoted and loving Ryan's care has been. The Barbara Walters' special had already been scheduled for tonight I believe. Sad stuff.
Serious AWW moment: Taylor just called me to invite me to a cookout her summer school is doing. They are taking the kids sailing with the Downtown Sailing Center (I used to sail with them) and having a bbq after, and they get to invite family. Family=her dad, his mentor and me (her mom is back in physical rehab unfortunately.) I'm really honored.
I'm so proud she got into this program. It's not catch up summer school, it's supplemental, get-ahead, done by one of the great private schools here, full ride for her.
I'm so glad the 8 miles aren't distance.

Did you google her for them? That poster was such an iconic image.
Did you google her for them?
They were watching the early MSNBC coverage which was a loop of a half dozen or so images over and over. They seem to get that she was pretty but didn't grasp the iconic nature of who she was to another generation. They had 'heard of' Charlie's Angels. That was a seriously hot poster.
I had
Charlie's Angel
trading cards. And I'm pretty sure my brother had the poster.
Charlie's Angels was on during a time when I saw almost no television (college/work) so I never saw the show. But I sure saw Farrah Fawcett.
I forgot about the trading cards. I had them too. Completely forgot about those.
Been trying to explain both Farrah and Michael to CJ. So iconic to my youth and, while he had heard MJ's music, he didn't really know much about Thriller era Michael and Farrah was a total unknown.
I remember spending HOURS trying to get my hair to feather just right.
