Ouch, Allyson. I've got nothing.
The Application trail isn't nearly as fun to walk.
Don't I know it!

How long does it take for the pain to at least dull after starting a course?
I would think it should start working in 24 hours if not sooner. Can you call the doctor's office that gave you the prescription and see if they can call in a prescription for numbing the pain? There are eardrops that can be used for the pain, I can't remember the name of the drug though.
You know, I think a heating pad would help...but I do not have one. My niece got tubes in her ears because she was getting so many. Poor boo. I had no idea how painful it could be. I went to bed at 8 last night. The dog has been guarding me since I got back from the hospital. The pain is so bad I keep worrying about losing my hearing.
Oh yeah, they gave me drops. They're pretty useless, though.
Happy Anniversary to Cashmere and her DH!!!
Soak a washcloth and microwave it, then wrap it in another cloth so you don't burn yourself.
Ima go with Dana's plan and lie down. I don't know how little kids deal with this at all.
Allyson, you can also turn a hair dryer on LOW and hold it near your ear -- not too close, obviously. Anything with a little heat will help.
Give the antibiotics another day, and use as much ibuprofen or whatever that you can.
I have never had ear infections, so other please speak up, but would warm water IN the ear work?
