I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I had no Grandfathers, and called my Grandmothers Honey (she wasn't the Grandma type) and Nanny Gay (Gay = her last name). My parents are Granny and Papa. My mom is far too young (and looks younger than she is) to be Granny, but that's what she wanted. MiL will be called Grandma.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Grandma and Grandpa on one side, Poppa and Nana on the other. I have no idea what my putative children would call my mother.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think my mother would want to be Mémère, like her mother before her, but like her father, Pepere or whatever the equivalent is would NOT work for my father, so who knows.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My mom is Bubbe, my dad is Pa Bill. E's parents are Grandma Pat and Grampa Bernie.

My grandparents are (or were) Granny/Grampa (also Gumpa or Pumpa), Nana/Granddaddy, Grandpa Dave/MiscFirstName. (Grandpa Dave = my dad's bio dad. By the time he died he was on his 5th wife. We didn't see him much.)

information libertarian

Oh, my stepmother's parents were Meme and Pepe (add French accents).

I was out cold for the tooth removal. Ver' niiice. Now my nose is back (numb nose = so weird!) but lips still numb, feel a little sore but not bad. Have taken various pills as preventative. All in all just fine. I like pudding, and an excuse to eat lots of it. We'll see if actual pain kicks in eventually.

My nephews called their other grandparents Mamaw and Papaw, emphasis on the first syllable. I think they just call my parents Gramma and Grampa. Which is what I called all of mine.

The only unusual in our family is my father's maternal grandparents: Mormor and Pomps. Mormor is swedish, but I have no idea where Pomps came from. It has no relation to his given name, or the swedish for grandfather.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

ETA: I am eating mashed potatoes with numb lips. They gave me Hydrocodone! I could become an addict, dude!

Not to scare flea, but I am STILL taking the hydrocodone eight days later. And I said something similar about this on facebook, but I don't know how people with chronic pain do it. I've been trying to avoid taking it but honestly, it hurts! And the vicodin makes me feel better! t /addiction issues

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Grandma and Grandpa on one side, Poppa and Nana on the other.

This. (Except, Papa.)

It might have been Papa. He's been gone for a while, so I never really wrote it - just said it. (Chicago suburbs FTW!)

Punishingly Intricate

My mom is far too young (and looks younger than she is) to be Granny, but that's what she wanted.

Same with my mom. She suggested it as sort of a joke but it stuck and it suits her.
