Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I had super hot awesome tofu for dinner. I ate all the rice and barely left any for the SO because it was so hot.

In my bizarre news about me, this morning I went to church like normal. And then a fit of the insane hit us and we offered our house for free for a month to a family we just met. Ack!

Me, with the issues about people in my house when I leave, finally has my own house where no one has the right to come in while I'm gone, and what do I do? I offer it up myself. But they're this new family at the church, just in town and the guy is looking for work, and they're staying with family but need a place to live.

We just looked at each other, and then hustled off the back to talk about it. But of course, all our assumptions turned out to be wrong (they are unhappy with the family situation, so might not have a place to go after their time is up, they have two younger kids a boy & girl plus the baby, though we thought that they had just the infant and an older girl (who turns out to not be theirs after all, just sitting with them)). So there's still plenty of scary, but we felt like, why do we have this gorgeous house if not to make it useful to people. So they'll turn up Wednesday and look at the place, but I think they're in regardless.

So. Summer tenants. Did I mention, "Ack?"

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Tonight's diner: pears stewed in soy milk with brown sugar, honey, cashews, almonds and a tablespoon of wine, goat cheese melted in. Fresh strawberries added at the end, served over waffles.

Xpost with Liese's awesome kind heart.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That sounds delicious, TB.

Is there an equivalent of "earwormed" for when it's a poem and not a song? Because my brain is stuck on "Gunga Din."

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That's an extremely generous offer, Liese. I do understand the scary, but I suspect it will all work out fine.

Hil, I don't know if there is a term for it per se, but I always hear the lines in my head rather than seeing them.

eek! There's a totally creepy noise outside. It's probably just a raccoon or something, but it's freaking me out.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

When I was a kid I'd pretty regularly convince myself that a noise like that was a bigfoot.

Burrell, I hope its not a bigfoot.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

When I was a kid a babysitter let my brother and I watch a bigfoot special on TV. My parents had to deal with many new fears.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Because of the rain, there's a tiny layer of clay-ey mud on a small patch of the patio. Yesterday I checked it for prints and spotted some that were far too small for cat -- I'm thinking skunk. Need to check online for an identification guide.

And yesterday was the first time I can remember seeing a turkey buzzard over Somerville!
