cereal that I'm not eating: just looked it up, because these guys were flying, and I think they're brown/wood cockroaches, which fits my setting, and they become active in June and July. Tomorrow's project, fixing the cats windows screen. Right now it's a big gaping door, apparently with flashing neon saying "Eat at Joe's"

Those are not roaches. Trust me. Roaches...scurry.
That's what I think too! I have experienced the scurrying kind. shudder.
ION, also gross, oh elderly dog! Why must you pee on the kitchen floor right after I have mopped it? And right after I've taken you out? Why???
I got it at Ace, a new neighborhood franchise that ordered a batch when I asked about it. A lot of people ended up buying it: they ordered a case, half was gone when I went to pick it up a day later. It isn't that uncommon, though. I just didn't see it at HD or Lowes on the shelf.
First time I voluntarily conquered a roach was when I was 19 and babysitting. No one else there to save the kid, so I dropped a 20 lb english compendium on it. And left it in the middle of the room for the mom to deal with.
Unfortunately, there's just me to deal now, so I am.
The Silverfish tend to be almost transluscent, while the house centipede is far too creepily visible (crawling in the blue glow of the TV in a dark room). All those legs ::shudder:: and the fuckers are fast.
eeeew. stop talking about roaches. it'll summon them. i can handle anything but spiders and roaches. i don't care what they're called, i call them all eeeewwkillitkillit.
bugs
The multi legged things are my doomer bugs.
EWWWWWWWWW Disgusting Terminix commercial with swarming and sound effects just came on. blehhhhhhhhhhh
Now I'm all itchy!
the bug site says Palmetto bugs are only in the deep south and the other things that are like them are American roaches.
I guess I'll look locally to see if anyone has it, then I'll seek out hardware stores in the more whole foody neighborhoods. I bet the hardware store by my brother has it.
Big ass flying roaches are palmetto bugs. No matter where I'm at, Palmetto bugs I learned them as, Palmetto bugs are what I kill. With great glee and relish.
(I have to be the roach killer in the household-- Lewis can't deal with them. However, he's much better at coping with snakes. I'm a total Indiana Jones about the snakes.)
cockroaches...flashing neon saying "Eat at Joe's"
Y'all have probably avoided the movie Joe's Apartment. I did originally, then I happened across it while channel surfing, and it was surprisingly good, funny, and not so creepy/crawly/icky.
And who didn't love Wall-E's cockroach sidekick?
I actually quite liked that movie!
"Fellow cockaroachies, we must save Joe!"
Now that I know these are wood roaches that don't breed indoors, the gross, greasy, filthy feeling I have is gone. Sorta.
