Tino update: yesterday he sent an email at 3:45pm saying he was rearranging the table assignments for the (110-organization strong, fills-a-ballroom) orientation fair. We were to expect the new assignments before 5pm. He sent the new assignment email at 7:30pm. The next fair is at 9:15 am today. TINO FAIL!

this is the real Tino, right? Because it's such a Tino story, I'm having trouble remembering.
Barb, come to Colorado!!!! (or were you thinking coast?)
Have no idea-- some of the job listings are in Colorado, some are in CA (Bay area), some are in Seattle, some are in Austin. It's just a case of finding something that feels right to him. I mean, who knows, nothing may come of it, but I sure hope it does-- he needs a change in a huge way and it's not as if I have any work issues we have to navigate around. The beauty of being a writer-- give me my laptop and access to internet and I'm good to go. So I'm definitely up for adventure and I think it would be good for everyone involved. We've been here in Jax for six years and there's been a lot of good, but I'm so ready to go and I think within the next year would be a good time to go with respect to the kids, as well. Abby's getting ready to start middle school, Nate's going into his second year-- I figure being able to move while they're in middle school and set the groundwork for high school is good.
But then again, I'm projecting. He has to actually up and decide to apply for a job, you know?
Tino sucks.
I wish the asswipe who originally injured Mr. Peabody has a giant festering abscess on his ass. But I'm glad he's going to be alright, Ginger.
I'm trying to flag down my motivation this morning.
I so don't want to be here today. Somehow dragging everyone out of bed and getting them off to their appointed locations for the day is exponentially more disheartening when most of the other parents I know (who have flexible jobs or one SAH parent) are reveling in the laid-back, sleep-in schedule of summer.
ETA: My Tino is the original Tino. Tino 1.0. My coworker occasionally yells "Tinooooo!" in the office after I told her about you people.
Somehow, it's even funnier to me that the real Tino is regularly Tino-esque.
Poor Mr. Peabody - I'm going to try to focus on anger at the guy that hurt him to avoid thinking about the suffering Mr. Peabody endured. I don't believe in the death penalty but I wouldn't complain if it were applied to those who hurt children and animals.
egad flea, Tino really does live up to his name, doesn't he? What a goob.
I haven't been to Austin or Colorado, but they both sound like great places to live. SF is wonderful, as is Seattle. Currently my fantasy is that my life finds a way to move itself to Seattle, but so far it's just a fantasy.
I can't believe someone would set a dog on fire like that. There are some pretty shitty people in this world.
Today was WTF? day on the way to work. First red light on my way to work I'm waiting at the head of the queue turning left off an off ramp. Someone pulls up on my right where there is not actually a lane. Then they take a left turn blithely running the light. After that another person does the same thing. WTF? The light was working just fine and changed about 10 seconds later.
Next red light, I'm four back in the queue. Dude in front of me pulls out of line onto the shoulder and runs the red light on the shoulder. This saved him about 5 seconds as that is a pretty short light. Again WTF?
Also I got tailgated a fair amount, but that's just normal.
I've been to Austin on many occasions and I can vouch that it looks like a nice place to live. I looked for jobs in Austin right out of college but that was in 1991, so there weren't any.
I've been to Colorado on many occasions as well and as long as it isn't in the east part of the state, spectacular. Of course I like mountains. Eastern Colorado is basically desert or prairie.
lisah, if you are around, where in the hell do we find out what our new trash days are with the once a week pickup? I'm not finding a sun article on it, and the city website is singularly unhelpful (I can't even find were it lists my normal trash days, and they don't have the new recycle pickups there yet either.)
I'm pretty sure it hasn't been announced yet. I bet they are still trying to figure it out. It doesn't go into play until mid-July though. I'm pretending it's not going to happen until then. Also, I need to get a new trashcan with a lid and hope this one's lid doesn't go AWOL like all my other trashcan lids have.
If you need to know your current trash/recycling schedule, you can download a pdf of the 2009 calendar here: [link]
Ginger, I'm so glad Mr. Peabody is doing well. There was a case here in the last couple of weeks of a dog who was deliberately burned and ended up dying from his injuries. They just arrested 17-year old twins for doing it. I can't really read too much about the case though because it makes me so sick. god, people sometimes.
