Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Most of what I know about Next to Normal is that, based on the number they performed tonight, it is way too intense for me to ever see.

Ditto. It looks great, but I don't know if I could take it.

Also, I hear good things about Rock of Ages.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I certainly hope the answer is "some" at least. NK are the people setting off IC(almost)BMs and whatnot, letting their own people starve and so on.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Fuck. How much political pressure can the US exert in this situation?

On North Korea? How are those nuclear talks going?

North Korea isn't going to respond to political pressure. They've done this so they can pressure the US.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

WHAT. Please, please tell me you are joking, and that such a show doesn't really exist. Please.

Hee! My sister produced the workshop version waaaaaaaaay back when - she said it's the sort of thing which by all rights ought to be terrible, but actually turns out to be pretty awesome.

The two American journalists (Laura Ling and Euna Lee) have been sentenced to 12 years hard labor.

Saw that in the paper this morning. I feel like I should know better than I do what the options are for international diplomacy in this case.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Like Billytea says, this is North Korea we're talking about. Normal rules don't really apply. China is potentially the best able to exert some sort of pressure, assuming they were of a mind to. But even then, a lot depends on what NK's endgame is here.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Fingers crossed for it's nothing, Austin

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Happy Queen's Birthday, Australia (except WA)!

Happy Queen's Birthday, Australia (except WA)!

Funnily enough, WA is about the only part of Australia that hasn't reached Tuesday yet. You'll be sending the Queen a belated birthday card again this year, Mr Rot.

China isn't likely to be able to help either. They're currently furious with North Korea; NK is not acting in China's interests here. (NK's nuclear program is very likely to send Japan and South Korea down that path too.) They get away with it because they are one step away from being a failed state. If the North Korean government collapses, millions of refugees flood into northern China.

You'd think that'd make Kim Jong Il etc mindful of China's wishes, but no. They're taking Chinese aid with one hand and slapping them in the face with the other. And the threat of a failed state on their border stops China from doing anything about it.

If that's how NK treats its friends, you can imagine what chance its enemies have.
