Coding and Sleeping

I'm having my birthday celebration this weekend at my parent's house. That should be nice. We had a little one last night at my in-laws, though I ended up cooking dinner and making the cake.

I somehow tweaked my back this morning. I'm not sure how, but it's been hurting for about an hour now. Will Advil help?

Oh, yeah. Take Advil now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

His ego is already fairly huge.

Heh. Smart people know they're smart. Plus, as my ex the medical student told me, "Most interesting people have egos."

(This came after me being mildly affronted when she noted I had an ego, and she waved it off.)

(Also, I realize her assertion might not meet with agreement here where high intellect and low self esteem often do a two-step. But she was in a top ten medical school with high achiever types.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hmm. Although this release isn't a story exactly, it's a video that we'd like to see go viral. I don't know what the differences are, but I bet there are studies out there on how to run a viral marketing campaign.

Yeah, for this, I would guess that slack-off Friday + free time weekend would be best. Let me ask a friend who might have some actual data...

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh, yeah. Take Advil now.

Thanks Steph and Seska. I did take it. Now I just need to remember that even if my back feels better later, I shouldn't pick up my son, no matter how much he whines.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I'd think they'd be pretty similar to the extent that "do you want this chunk of information to spread or not."

To give a completely unscientific example, anything that appears on my Facebook after six or so today is unlikely to be read and disiminated by me until Monday morning (though I certainly could check in at some point). It will have to compete with a weekend's worth of stuff to catch my attention and the attention of anyone who reads my links. I think this level of attention is pretty common for the desk-riders of the world.

Of course, if the group you're flinging it too seems to be on-line as much or more on the weekends Friday would be better -- I'm not sure who that group might be.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I may not be an outlaw in Texas after all.

State Senator Bob Deuell (the bills senate sponsor) sent an email this afternoon saying: “Now I am 100% positive the lighting design industry is safe. The Governor's office called this morning and said Governor Perry will veto the entire bill if that language remains in HB 2649. Consider it done. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this language will be removed from this bill.”

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Now I just need to remember that even if my back feels better later, I shouldn't pick up my son, no matter how much he whines.

Yep, that's the problem with painkillers. The "wahey I can run round and do lots of exciting things and climb moutains and everything! ... ah, not so much" effect.

Shit. Today was recycling and I forgot to put it out.
