The whole point of big-time competition in anything is that the competitors are exceptional.
Seriously!
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

OMG. I've never been more glad to be out of high school: [link]
Happy birthday, Seth!
Random transition #1: Jilli, I think it depends on the time of day. Post it early on Friday so that everyone has time to spread the meme during the don't-wanna-work time of day.
Random transition #2: I have a question for those wise in the ways of pharmaceuticals. I somehow tweaked my back this morning. I'm not sure how, but it's been hurting for about an hour now. Will Advil help? Or should I wait until I can get home in a few hours and take some naproxen?
And yet there they are on the street corner with signs that, now that I think of it, could be taken from a LOLcat.
Makes you want to hold up a counter-sign that says: "Competition - UR doin it wrogn"
You can't exactly tell a 4 year-old to head over to Prospect Park for half an hour so Mommy can clean the kitchen.
Yeah, a change in culture that is not for the better. When I was four and my parents wanted some time without me for cleaning or any other reason, I was routinely told to run off to the park to play. This was standard on my block. But I guess a parent who does that today is risking a call from Child Protective Services. Parents, get off my lawn!
big hugs to the cowgirl.
I love having a yard even though we haven't fixed up the one in back yet. I have a plan, I just don't have the money to implement it yet.

It's not just about a change in culture, it's about Prospect Park (especially the south end where I live) being kind of a skeezy place at the best of times. During the day it's a great place to hang out and bring the kids, and the safety of the neighborhood in general is VASTLY improved from what it was 20 years ago, but there are still more routine stabbings going on than I'm entirely comfortable with to let a preschooler run loose. (I'd at the very least want my kid to be able to read and have my phone number memorized.)

Yay hugs! I'll have to show the boys this one.
I just read that to my class, Jesse. They were all like, "That's a total waste of paper."
And then I reminded them, "I end here. You end over there. Let's maintain the distance."
