Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Oh, good. I wasn't sure I was going to like the show, but it's definitely turned out to be something in the else category that I think will have to become part of my TiVo repertoire.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Huh. I hated the Glee pilot with a smoldering passion when I watched it a few weeks ago. I could see what they were going for, but the fact that EVERY SINGLE FRACKING CHARACTER was a shallow stereotype really bugged. It was like watching a show about show choir made by someone who never got over the fact that they never got into show choir.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

LOVED Glee. I told Joe that we need to get a DVR since I;ll be in class every night. Even Joe liked it, and he doesn't like ANYTHING.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Eeeeeeeeee! Just got off the phone with Hec, reporting the highlights of tonight's Little League game. Not a lot of details, and there won't be until he comes back from the celebration, but the important parts are:

*We won
*Emmett hit TWO grand slams
*Emmett pitched the 6th inning and shut 'em down.

Yeah baby!

I'd say they were more composites, and for the purposes of a pilot it did help differentiate a pretty big cast. I also think stuff like the glee club teacher's wife not being a career woman was not what I would have expected.

But I loved it. I think they'll develop over time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ha! They just showed a trailer for Raising The Bar and they've cut Gosselaar's nasty hair.

Oh is THAT who it is in those billboards.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yeah it was!

It was a holy shit roller coaster is what it was.

He hit the first grand slam in the top of the fifth inning and it gave us a six run lead. He pitched the bottom of the fifth and they hit him hard and scored five runs. It was a 9-8 game and he was in danger of losing the game in which he had a grand slam. He looked totally shaken when he came off the mound.

Then he came up in the top of the sixth and hit the second grand slam. He pitched the bottom of the sixth, got two outs immediately and then the defense committed two errors behind him. That and a hit loaded the bases for Jack - Emmett's close friend and the best home run hitter in the league.

Emmett struck him out to end the game. (Jack struck out looking on a borderline pitch, but clearly the ump thought we'd had enough baseball.)

I told Emmett I was most proud of him for willingly going out to pitch the bottom of the sixth (I was out of pitchers at that point too).

The first grand slam was an absolute rocket, an opposite field line drive that cleared a thirty foot fence. It's really hard to hit the ball over the high fence that way with opposite field power. The second was a towering shot to straight away center.
