Here is where YOU come in.

What would you like to see featured on Jenny's show? What would you like for her to talk about? What are you and your friends buzzing about?

Here's the suggestion I sent to them.

I want Jenny McCarthy to get schooled. I want her to invite educated, intelligent scientists and doctors on her show, who each week dissect her vapid little opinions and dismantle her cherished biases. I want her to be embarrassed in every hour. And I want her to get a little wiser, episode by episode, so that by the end of a year she actually becomes an informed and interesting person.

Help people learn some actual science and medicine by making Jenny McCarthy a public example, and help McCarthy become a better human being -- one who doesn't kill children with her ignorance.

Do you think they'll go for that?

I'm still boggled that anyone, anyone at all is still holding onto the autism/vaccinations link--not only were there always troubling questions about the validity of the original study that started the whole mess, right from the beginning, but it was decisively debunked and the author exposed as a fraud and a cheat just a couple of months ago. Everything comes from that one Lancet article, and there's no reputable anyone anywhere in the world who now believes that article to be anything but a piece of number-massaged shit.

At this point Captain Logic is not only not steering Jenny McCarthy's tugboat, he's been bludgeoned and dumped overboard in the dead of night.

I feel so bad for all the abuse Captain Logic suffers these days....

We're starting to get the fallout from it in the UK. (Warning: needle in this link*) [link] Don't know how this compares with situations in other countries, but it's scary. Apparently there are huge numbers of parents here who *still* won't get their kids immunized.

*My other half passes out upon seeing a needle. I've learnt to put warnings on things.

I totally agree that logic is not where she is at. Where that plays seems to be is a deep disappointment and anger and upset and an inability to understand sometimes medical shit Just Happens and the humans don't control everything. Try as hard as we'd like.

It makes me feel sad.

Credit Card Industry Aims to Profit From Sterling Payers

Credit cards have long been a very good deal for people who pay their bills on time and in full. Even as card companies imposed punitive fees and penalties on those late with their payments, the best customers racked up cash-back rewards, frequent-flier miles and other perks in recent years.

Now Congress is moving to limit the penalties on riskier borrowers, who have become a prime source of billions of dollars in fee revenue for the industry. And to make up for lost income, the card companies are going after those people with sterling credit.

Banks are expected to look at reviving annual fees, curtailing cash-back and other rewards programs and charging interest immediately on a purchase instead of allowing a grace period of weeks, according to bank officials and trade groups.

I had a horrible, nibbled to death by ducks sort of day yesterday, but today was shaping up to go much better. Until my work nemesis did something so irritating I practically had a rage blackout.

I really hate that I cry when I am mad, but I think if I didn't, I might actually explode. This was two hours ago, and my pulse is still racing, even though I feel a bit silly now.

I'm fairly sure she was never on that tugboat to begin with - before she got on the anti-vax train, she was convinced that her son was not autistic but was in fact an Indigo Child and had superpowers. Then after a while she decided that he was autistic after all but that she'd cured him with her "mommy instincts." Now she's walking around telling Time Magazine that kids with autism are worse off than kids dying of measles and polio. The level of crazy doesn't change, just the message.

Nevermind that the MMR vaccine DOES NOT NOW AND NEVER DID contain mercury.

Polio I think did, but I'd have to double check.

The last interview I saw with her, she was saying do vax, but spread them out more than the recommended schedule. Also, hyperbaric chambers cure everything. So there's that.
