I have printed out maps and directions and phone numbers. I have put a new memory card in the camera and rounded up batteries. I have ascertained that we probably will walk through the 395 tunnel. I found my beltloop money carrier. I set the alarm and lights to go at 5 am. I know what I'm wearing.
Now to just get up at 5 am and for 29 to not be a parking lot. Or ice rink.
There was an event on DuPont Circle today with a giant inflatable George W. Bush, at which people threw shoes.
Aww. If I'd known about that, I totally would have gone. I even have a pair of shoes I really want to get rid of! (I keep meaning to just throw them away, but I keep forgetting.)
Y'all'd seen this? [link]
My office sent out an e-mail asking, nay, begging, people not to watch tomorrow's inauguration on their computers since all of those people trying to stream it on their desktops would slow down the company's network to a standstill. Instead, we're supposed to watch it on the TVs they've got set up at each location (ours will be in the cafeteria). I won't be here, so I don't have to worry about that, but that's the first time I've ever seen such a request issued by TPTB.
My mom's school district made the same request. My work didn't say it explicitly, just implied. But we're old hands at bandwidth taking out our connection. But it is usually done to us, rather than us doing it.
We weren't asked not to watch at our desks, just invited to bring our lunches to the conference room.
my work has not done a damn thing. Almost everyone I know has something arranged at their offices, or some acknowledgment. us, nothing.
The actual swearing in is at like 11:30, right? I have to figure out the actual mechanics of my lunch, because I will not be able to wait until after. Hmm.
We're watching it as a school via the network because our facility doesn't have a cable connection. We got the warning to not watch on our own and were then directed to one of three viewing spots in the building.
I guess I could just plan to be out at the actual swearing in and catch it on a tv out somewhere.
