Willow: Were there dolphins? Tara: Yes. Many dolphins at the pound. Willow: Was there a camel? Tara: There was the front of a camel. A half-camel.

This weekend I managed to have a splinter which got minorly infected, burn myself, stab myself under the finger nail with a pushpin, and scrape my cuticle, all on the fingers of my right hand. These injuries were also an apt metaphor for the weekend.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I hate headaches.

I think I may have to quit caffeine altogether. Not happy about that.

My parents always told me the first kid is like the first pancake. Don't worry if you screw it up - you can always make more.

Definitely true for some.

So, for 48 hours, N has not slept more than an hour at a time. It means that I have not slept for more than that either. My head hurts. My dulce de leche is not putting a dent in the sheer exhaustion I am feeling.

Moreover, N hasn't really eaten anything in 48 hours. He has a sore on his tongue like I get when I have too much citric acid and a sore on his lip. He wants nothing. Yesterday, he barely touched the ice cream I tried to tempt him with. Not even Porto's cheered me or baby up (N didn't even want to eat his potato ball, inspite of being really excited to see them).

I am so tired and feel pretty well done at this point.

In other news? Today is standardized testing at school. The upside? ALMOST DONE with the year and I really don't have to do anything other than proctor the test.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I think I may take a day off this week. I may also speak to my boss about taking a week of unpaid leave in the summer.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

msbelle, a free day off sounds like an excellent plan. A week even more so, of course.

I am sorry for everyone having crappy days!

Unpaid leave = sucky but if you can get it, it'll do you a world of good.

I want to take time off while my son had time at daycare so I can just veg.

Oh. did I mention that we got a call yesterday saying Grace has rotovirus?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Oh, Kat, that's a LOT on your plate all at once. I hope you and Msbelle both get some time to recover.

I have such deep admiration for Buffista parents.

“Not dead yet!”

Ugh on all the crappy Mondays.

Mine's pretty even so far, at least with one bright spot-- my fastest response ever on a query that wasn't a rejection. Fourteen minutes for an agent to respond with a request for a full manuscript. Go me. (Of course, it's not the manuscript I really wish an agent would be interested in, but I'll take what I can get at the moment...)
