The space junk isn't accelerating, it's at constant velocity and the danger is kinetic energy equals mass time velocity squared and it's the velocity squared part that makes it dangerous.
Yeah. Duh.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Okay, technically it is accelerating due to the force of the Earth's gravitational field. I hadn't thought that through, but that's a directional change in velocity not a change in speed. It's still the kinetic energy they should be talking about.

Well, technically, since it's traveling in a circle, it's undergoing acceleration. Space junk has a constant speed, not constant velocity, because speed is a scalar and velocity is a vector.

What those guys said.
Barely got my correction made in time.
Space junk has a constant speed
Well, unless it's in an elliptical orbit....
Also, as soon as Dark Side of the Moon finishes on my iPod, I'm gonna play the Devo song "Space Junk."
Ahead of their time, the Devo....
Still within a constant range of speeds.
One of the things being installed is a soft-capture device, so something robotic can go up, grab it and do whatever with it once it has reached EOL.
I had a good start to the morning. I increased the incline for my 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I boosted the weight on my bench press to 210 lbs. And I got on the scale for the first time in awhile and I've lost some weight. If I continue to keep my snacking to a minimum, keep control of my portion sizes, and continue with my new 5 hour sleep minimum instead of 6 hour (to facilitate not skipping exercise), then maybe I can get back to the condition I was in five years ago.
2005 and 2006 were exceptionally stressful years for me and I really let my body go in a horrific way.
