Beany was fun. I loved those books.
I've been mocked by a non-NYC type for calling Poughkeepsie upstate, so really I think it depends on perspective. Sophia, where do you think upstate starts?
Up here (Syracuse environs) it's never referred to as upstate, but as Central New York. *I* consider it upstate, though. Hell, it's practically in Canada.
Syracuse can call itself whatever it likes, but we all know it's Hoth.
I ... don't know what that means!
Syracuse also calls itself "the 'cuse" which I find incredibly annoying and stupid.
I have not taken very well to my adopted nearest city, in case you can't tell.
Hoth = the Ice Planet at the beginning of Empire Strikes Back

I guess even saying "upstate" means you're thinking from the perspective of NYC, eh? Up from where??

I am having a flashback of someone I went to high school with saying she was going to college at "Cusey, yo!" Which, seriously?

Ah. Well, that's the truth then.
::shudders::
Everything is now go for a 2:02 pm shuttle launch. Eep.

When I was growing up, I would have said it started around Albany and went west to Buffalo, but we are now "Western NY". This is weird, but I am pretty sure this area used to be referred to as upstate, not just from my memory, but because Travis McCoy, from Gym Class Heroes, who is from Geneva (between Rochester and Buffalo) has "Upstate New York" tattooed on his chest
McD for lunch. burp.
Ah upstate. My definition ranges from anything north that I can't get to on the MTA proper and anything further than the Catskills. I remember the first-time I heard some mention of Downstate medical, and I was all "downstate where? there is no downstate".
ION - I have sold some stuff left over from the flea market by making a post on my neighborhood list-thingy. YAY!
I think I am going to do my winter/summer clothing swap over this week. It's not quite warm enough, but I think with cardigans I should be able to make do with summer stuff.
McD for lunch.
But I thought you and BK had a relationship.
