I gave her everything... jewels, beautiful dresses -- with beautiful girls in them.

hip deep in pie

The Station Agent is another great movie she's been in. She's also had a lot of wife roles in bigger movies...so she definitely has a "it's that guy" about her.

How is my head still full of snot?

I guess it's time to get dressed and go buy a new switch for my bedroom. It seems that, except for the bathroom and the basement, all the lights in my house are on the same circuit. Some of the plugs are on the same circuit too. That seems like a lot of load.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I haven't seen Far From Heaven, although it look like my kind of movie, and I might now that I have looked it up!

It's definitely a Sophia movie. I'd recommend it to you on just the costuming, but I think you'll love the story and the performances.

Now that I think about it, it covers a lot of territory similar to Mad Men, though all filtered through Douglas Sirk's technicolor melodramas.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

It's an indescribable feeling when your new baby lies in your arms and stares at you with an intent look on his face that says, "Hey! Two dark spots in a round shape! I know that pattern!" Today has not involved much of that. The little penguin has had some colic. It is a considerably less enjoyable feeling to have your little man screaming his head off no matter what you do, occasionally staring at you as if to say, "My tummy hurts! Why aren't you fixing it, Two-Spots-in-a-Round-Shape?!"

In fact, it's pretty demoralising. It's been a difficult weekend here, especially for Wallybee, who has come down with something that's left her aching all over; and since she still controls the food bar, we can't completely avoid disturbing her. We are so fortunate to have her parents here helping out. We're getting through the night in shifts (which is why I'm up right now); in a couple of hours, I'll be handing over to the parents of Wallybee. (Normally she'd have a shift too, but while she's feeling like this, she needs as much rest as she can get.)

Allow me, then, to sing the praises of my lovely wife, on this her first Mothers Day as a mother. She is doing so much under difficult circumstances, but she's feeling overwhelmed right now. I know I couldn't be doing this without her (I'm not sure how we'd cope without her parents either, but that's another matter).

Wallybee and I have managed to put the little penguin down for a sleep now. His tummy problem seems to have resolved itself, his nose is now clear, his bottom is hopefully behaving itself, and with any luck he'll be unconscious for a little while yet. And I love my wife more and more now she's a mother too.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, BT. I am confident that life with the little penguin will get easier. Eventually....

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

BT, that post is so sweet and seems to (since I am not a parent) encapsulate a lot of the feeling of being a new parent.

Also, have you ever considered being a writer, because that is beautiful?

I am cnsidering inviting my mom to my apartment (she has never been to any of my apartments) because I need to clean and need a reason, but she is really messy to and can't see very well so it doesn't have to be squeaky clean, just not a disgusting pigsty. Also, she can sniff and tell me where the cat pee smells that I am now immune to are coming from, since Miss Bobo is now peeing very well, but not in the litter box. Grrr. I caught her twice, so got those spots with the vinegar and peroxide, but I can't even tell anymore if there are other spots.

Dude, SNL had Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, AND Leonard Nemoy!

Oh, I'm not complaining. We're better off than many new parents. We have two doting grandparents who are taking up so much of the slack. And we have each other. This is my point, really; I'm so fortunate to have her. The thing that really gets me is that she's so appreciative of everything I do, and I just feel that she's doing so much more.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm sorry the penguinito is going through a rough patch, BT. Rough patches are sort of the proving ground of parenthood, with the sleep dep, and the incredibly grating howls and crying and the skin issues and the stuff that comes out of them.

But you're all weathering it fine. Particularly for two spots in a round shape. I'm glad Wallybee's parents are there for you.

It's true. We can call upon the awesome power of eight spots in four round shapes.

Which reminds me, I recently bought this t-shirt for myself: [link]

(Incidentally, tonight while I was walking the little man around the house to calm him down, there was one picture in particular that commanded his attention: an echidna. *sniff* My son.
