Hivemind help: The light switch in my bedroom is broken. Like, I flipped it off and it didn't turn off. A bit of flipping back and forth made the light go off, but the switch is in the on position. And there was def. a pop when it went off. So question: Is this an immediate hazard? can I just leave the light off and it will be okay overnight? I would turn the breaker off, but it seems that all the power to the 2nd floor & the lights in the kitchen are all connected to the same breaker. I plan to get a new switch tomorrow, I just don't think I can cope tonight.

ETA: It's in the switch, I'm sure. I looked in the box and the electrical connections look fine.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

If there is no smoke or sizzling in the switch it can probably wait a day. Not going off is a little more of a concern than not turning on though.

Base on your edit, it sounds like the switch is just worn out.

So I made back the money it cost to get a table at the fleamarket, plus a little more, then I spent $8 on books for mac. The woman I sold stuff for made some money also. I think we sold about half the kid's clothes, but I only sold one of the like 12 things I had out of my clothes. The bike sold, but the v-smile, crutches, and stool did not. I think I am going to try to ebay some of the better kids' clothes and the v-smile games. not today though.

I got up early but did not make it to the farmers' market down the road. I really want to. But I cut up strawberries and trekked out to Ellicott City for my haircut. It takes longer to get there by a little bit, but seems even longer because you go through so many different hoods (and stoplights.) Charles Village, Downtown, sorta over Pigtown, SW Baltimore City, then you start getting into LMC suburbia then more suburban business district, old small town main street, rolling farmland, woods, then milltown and E.C! All in 14 miles or so. It's a little jolting.

Ran errands and got a set of wire shelves for the kitchen (msbelle: [link] except it was $40!)

Came home, put them together, cleared out the last kitchen box.

Baked shortbreads and discovered I probably left my oven thermometer in the apartment. Oh well, stove seemed to work. Wasn't paying attention and almost turned the whipped cream into butter. Whoops. And I think I should have bought another box of strawberries. I used 2 lbs. Ah well, too late.

Heading next door shortly. Probably after I post this and slap on some chapstick.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Have fun!

My hands still hurt from bringing too much stuff to Goodwill earlier. But it's gone! I do feel bad that I looked down and realized that one of the sweaters had cat hair on it. Oops, sorry, Goodwill.

yeah I had to forego putting 2 things out at the flea market because I realized they were dirty, then 2 more because they were covered in cat hair. Not that they were things that were selling anyway.

Sara, I just bought those same shelves for my basement.

And I went back upstairs and the bedroom light was ON. So I've located my flashlight and turned the power off at the breaker. There's a light in the kitchen that is not on the same circuit, so I think I can survive without lights in the bedroom tonight.

After I send them out, I will have made approx $2 on the one pair of shoes I sold on eBay, so I'm over selling stuff! Except I do still want to sell my old computer -- that should bring in actual money. I should clean it out and list that on craigslist tonight. Hmmm.
