Kaylee: You're nice, too. Mal: No, I'm not. I'm a mean old man.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Speaking of old lady: It was my minion's birthday yesterday, and I was assuming she was turning 25. NO. 24! I laughed and laughed. No wonder she thinks I'm so old! Because I am.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

sarameg, have you tried just sticking a hose into the top of the drainspout and flushing it out? That's all I've ever done to clear them, seems to work.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Weekend: Mostly events with JZ's family celebrating (locally) her brother's marriage to his partner, with a bit of Little League on the side.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Tonight: hosting the Friday night geek-fest

Tomorrow: nothing solid. I'll probably ramble over to the Farmer's Market and get some strawberries, see if the nursery has some plants I've been waiting on, etc. I know I won't be color coordinating my book shelves.

Sunday: Star Trek and dinner with friends

Star Trek was good! Looks like it's time to head home now that the meeting is over.

People!! I got my brows waxed!! It was very exciting and new for me. Yes, I am 36. As I told my Alabaman coworker who was probably taking lessons in lipstick application when she was 10, I was raised by hippies! In Maine!

This weekend I am probably doing a lot of yard work. It's been 85 and rainy for a week and everything is growing like crazy, including the kudzu. There is a kids' dance party in a downtown club (1-4pm) that might be fun, and a neighbor is having a fundraising pottery sale (to raise money to do surgery on the dog who lives in the pottery.)

If I don;t get breakfast in bed for Mother's day I will be put out.

a) I don't have a hose, b) I'd have to get a really long hose because it's up on the balcony and I think the nearest spigot is in the garage but it doesn't have a handle and c) it's REALLY packed in there, about 3 feet worth. Largely roofing crap.

If the snaking doesn't work, I can remove the section and replace it. But I figure the snaking will work.

Oh and I stopped by a former neighbors and she gave me 3 house plants; a prayer plant(?) and two african violets. All can be kept safely away from cats.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Nobody stuck one of those bugs in your ear to make you their slave, did they?
