We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Dana, thanks for the offer, but Land's End doesn't go up to my size, unfortunately.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Whereas now that people know what to look out for, and patients are getting early intervention and support, it should be much more survivable than the initial presentation.

Although, someone I just had a meeting with was saying she had heard that if you feel sick, you should stay home! To avoid getting on the subway, etc.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Gotcha. I vote for the purple, by the way. The blue and white does look very nautical, but the purple looks like more fun.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

That's good advice whether or not you have swine flu, though.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ah, the Transformers. That was in my eighties blindspot along with all references to Cobra Commander.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Republican party platforms are always amusingly insane

PZ quotes from the Oklahoma GOP platform:

4. While the objective study of philosophy and religion can be beneficial, public schools should not be endorsing any specific religion or philosophy. We believe that students and teachers should enjoy the right of free exercise of religion.

5. We support posting the Ten Commandments and our Nation's motto, "In God We Trust," in all public schools in recognition of our religious heritage. U.S. citizens. We support teaching the intent of our founding fathers, the original founding documents, and the difference between a democracy and a republic.

Anybody notice a wee bit of... inconsistency between these two?

Hah! I wish, working from home, I could be all "I'm sorry, swine flu makes me unable to get to work"

Though given how half my work is about traveling on planes and shit, I'm probably going to like, die of swine flu from some annoying person next to me sneezing all over me or something.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Although, someone I just had a meeting with was saying she had heard that if you feel sick, you should stay home! To avoid getting on the subway, etc.

Is this where I become a mom? When you are sick you are supposed to rest. and a day of rest , even if it is 'only a cold ' helps your body heal. and it is one less day I get exposed to your germs -- which makes my lungs very happy.
