And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Worst. Day. Ever.:

COLORADO SPRINGS - Talk about a bad day. A pregnant woman not only was chased down by a brown bear, but got hit by a car in her attempt to get away.

Mother and baby are both fine, and the baby's middle name will be Bear.

Thrive to spite them

My new cats are oddly silent. This is sort of freaking me out since Anna (my still missed late kitty) was very vocal, especially at the last when she was going deaf and couldn't hear herself.

So far Dean, the Siamese mix, I've only heard meow when he was separated from his sister when she was recovering from being spayed. Other than that, no sounds, no meows, no cries. Even when he's hungry--- he just sort of looms and climbs over things.

His sister Maddie (a gray and white tabby) occasionally will make little chrippy purry noises. She makes these at night when she comes and decides to rub her head on my face and tries to lick my closed eyes, in the morning when she and Dean are racing across my head (they do a circuit part aroud the apartment), and also when she wants to get fed.

The only real meow I've heard from her was when she was separated from Dean. And once she was racing around making sort of distressed little chirps, but that's because I had closed her out of the room with the litter box.

Also hi Seska! Welcome aboard!

Loki is a pretty quiet cat. He's got a high pitched voice which is startling coming out of such a large cat.

I'm at the JESUSFUCKINGCHRIST stage of packing. If the tape sticks to the roll ONE MORE FUCKING TIME. If another box doesn't cooperate ONE MORE FUCKING TIME. If tape on a box sticks to the bag of peanuts and dumps them on the floor ONE MORE FUCKING TIME.

I can't vacuum. I'm taking filthy carpets to my new house and there is no help for it. I can't FIND the carpets for the boxes.

Phones, modem, tv still up. I can't really yank up those wires (phone) until the carpets and a lot of furniture are gone. I have one plate, one cup, one fork. My fridge has insulin and water for the movers. I have no idea how I'm getting out of the door in the morning, I think I'm going to start by getting up at 4:30. I'm only eating dinner now. All my powerstrips are still in.

oh sara, it will work. you will have time to get the electronics when the movers start moving things and dirty carpets are not a problem, honest.

Haven't figured out about the balcony. Haven't touched it but to throw trash out on it. That may be me on Sunday.

I found the needles. They were in Mister Kitty's to-go bag.

If you have any boxes, you can just let the movers put the stuff on the balcony in them tomorrow - otherwise leave it.

So tomorrow morning, you have to wrangle the cats, then watch the movers load out and then get over to the house and get the cats sequestered before things move in, right?

sarameg - Apr 24, 2009 4:26:42 pm PDT #16717 of 30000

I have to wait for the movers to arrive, haul the cats over (they really cannot be here while the movers are) haul ass back to the apt to supervise the rest (it will take me ~1 hour to do that, it'll be curious to see what happens in an hour) haul back over to house to supervise unloading.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

somehow , sara it always works. Our last move was the worst move -- and I didn't figure out why until a year later -- I packed up a four bedroom house - except for the computer stuff and the final kitchen stuff - myself. DH was there the day of the move ( the day I worked) -- but I did most of it -- then spent the next week getting odds and ends out of the old place . then he went to Vanuatu for a couple of weeks. me and the cats and the boxes....
