So I managed to get a virus on my work computer today. Every time I tried to delete it or run virus software, the computer would restart. That's fun. I think I may have to ship it off to IT on Monday.
Am home now.
Those cats looked pissed.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Haven't seen anything on the Tribune, but this is cool:
World War II dive bomber recovered from lake
Do people know that the US Navy did much of its training of aircraft carrier pilots in Lake Michigan during WWII? They took these old ferries and made little aircraft carriers out of them. The worlds only fresh-water, coal-fired, paddle-wheeled aircraft carriers. If a pilot made a bad landing and went over the side, he'd fall onto a paddle wheel.
I was late getting to the vet's because I had to have the IT people down in Texas do a remote virus scan for something I picked up earlier this week while I was looking for info on my mp3 player.
Followup to tom's post: George HW Bush did his Navy flight training at Navy Pier.

One of those old ferries was the Eastland, which was pulled from the Chicago River after it flipped over, killing over 800 people in 1915. It was renamed the USS Wilmette and operated as a ferry throughout the 1930s and only after the war began was it converted into a training vessel.
I don't see smoke anymore at Marina City, but now there's a helicopter overhead and a ton of ambulances, fire trucks, and cop cars near the Hotel Sax.
you're about to break into the "be a Pepper, drink Dr. Pepper" song, aren't you? don't lie. in case you need choreography ideas: [link]

Yeah, that's where the aircraft carriers were based. Sometimes there's be traffic accidents on Lake Shore Drive as drivers were distracted by planes operating from the carriers.
I've always figured that shrift breaks into song a lot at work.
Uhg. Doing a load of laundry now. There may be another couple in my future. The house is as clean as it is going to get. I think after I do this laundry, I may head over again to take the rest of my groceries and the cat stuff. If T and her family are home, I'll invite them to follow me over.
Already have a home ownership issue. And of course it is water. Toilet keeps running. Not flushing running, but the fill valve won't shut off all the way. It's not a contraption like I'm used to so I couldn't figure it out. I wonder if some crud got stuck in the pump that shuts it off. Anyway, short term solution? Turn off water to toilet when not in use. I'll deal with it...later.
OK time to do something. Something
heh ... Kathy, the other day I was waiting for my bus when one of my neighbors was bringing his cat back from somewhere. I could hear the feline complaints across the street and half a block away.
Cats aren't big on the suffering in silence thing, are they?

Sweet heavens, no. They're more about the suffering like a Cuban mother-- they're not happy and they're going to make sure everyone knows how their ungrateful children (humans) are making them suffer.
Not that I'd know or anything. (On cats AND Cuban mothers.)
