Gudanov, both. I was once a committed lurker, and recently realised I'd missed the goings-on here. Also that pressing the 'post' button was not going to destroy the universe. Probably.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Well then welcome to the world of the posting! Always great to have another poster!
Another lurker bites the dust! Welcome, Seska!!

That's what we want you to think.
Kidding, of course. Welcome!

That's what we want you to think.
I can entirely believe this. *wibble*
Thanks for the welcome!
The full story of my de-lurkage actually involves two postgraduate students (including me) with a love of all things fandom, one too many beers, a sad deconstruction of life without a forum on which to discuss said things of fandom, and fellow grad student's reminder that this place is still buzzing away with intelligent conversation. Also other types of conversation.
Plus, I'm trying to write a paper on research ethics. Distraction is delightful.

There's an exterminator that advertises on cable in NY that uses a DOG to sniff out the bedbugs, which he then freezes to death.
Yes, dogs are very good at sniffing out bedbugs. The service is expensive, though - as is the freezing.
Did you know that bedbugs can live up to a year and a half without food? Just one of the many exciting facts I've learned recently.
Extreme cleaning guy will be here soon to give me an estimate.
Oh, and hi, Seska!
Hello and welcome, Seska!

ION, I am just totally man-crushing on Andrew Sullivan for his anti-torture posts.
James Taranto who fully backed a president who claimed the right to suspend the First and Fourth Amendments, habeas corpus, the Geneva Conventions and domestic law against torture, and who seized an American citizen without charges on American soil and tortured him, now offers his view as to the small possibility of prosecuting the perpetrators of war crimes. Drum roll, please:
What Obama is offhandedly contemplating, then, amounts to a step toward authoritarian government.
No, you couldn't make this up.
Just one of many excellent posts recently....
