In college, I ate many a Fried Chicken Salad. Good times.
I have to admit that I was surprised to find myself agreeing with the basic premise when one of my classes was discussing the use of torture in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, and most of the class felt that stress positions, sleep deprivation, the undressing and humiliation of prisoners, even waterboarding, weren't really torture because they can see worse things depicted in any number of main stream movies, like the Saw series.
But the whole point of those movies is that they are torture porn!
That's not true. Every time you unleash a nefarious plot to take over Sang Sacre you have lots of interesting things to say.
I seem to always get busy doing other stuff and stop posting mid-plot. I've got to stop doing that. I think I left off fighting the Peep(tm) hoards in Candyland.
My salad is actually quite delicious. The chicken is almost like tonkatsu.
Oh, I should have a gadget arriving today. It's print server so I can put our laser printer back on the network without having to have a whole computer running to do the same thing. It used to be connected to my wife's desktop computer, but she didn't need the desktop anymore so we played computer shuffle and gave my daughter's old computer and a bunch of kids software we no longer use to a single mother who needed a computer. We tried to give her our Lexmark printer too, but she didn't take it. Can't give the thing away.
Oy-- just came from a meeting with all of Nate's teachers. They all said the same thing. Bright kid, easily distracted, has attitude (although not to the point of ever being sent to the office) is incredibly disorganized, and isn't working up to his potential.
Tell me something I don't know.
My head hurts.
But the whole point of those movies is that they are torture porn!
Yes, and I certainly don't mean to imply that Twitter is torture porn. I was just surprised that they were so blase about actual torture and critiquing it for failing to seem tortuous enough to merit moral outrage.
Aside from the attitude (or maybe I had that too and just didn't realize) Nate is me. I turned out OK.
Good times.
Someday I need to go back and read the whole Aeshma vs. Miracleman saga again.
My head hurts.
Oh, man good luck with all of that. That sounds a bit like Leif, but right now Leif can sort of coast because 2nd grade is so easy for him. He doesn't have attitude though, that's his sister's job.
But the whole point of those movies is that they are torture porn!
I kinda want to bop all your students and say "so imaginary pain caused to imaginary people in the plot of a Make believe movie make you think torture to real people is not that big of a deal. How would you feel about me shooting you, or even punching you repeatedly about the midsection? Here let me let you watch all the Bourne movies and anything that Stratham dude has been in first, maybe that will change your mind. also? you are an idiot."
but, you know me, I'm judgey.
