Wasn't Southland a possible title for one of Tim's shows? The Inside maybe?

My coworker was raving about Southland, but I don't need one more thing to get into!
I am back from Spa Day, which was Very Nice. And no one tried to sell me anything! I heard other people being sold to, so maybe I just had a vibe. The only vibe I actually had going on was trying-to-stay-awake, since I was so relaxed and mellow. Good times.
I just told my cat that she's an opportunist. She seemed unconcerned with that assessment.
Cats' egos never seem to suffer from their humans' opinions of them.
Blisters on feets. Ugh.
I've never heard of the phrase "Grey Gardens" in regard to people, places, or things, so I was intrigued by the HBO movie that's going to be running. And the picture at the head of this NYT article
of Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange made me go, "Oh, yeah, that's a Barrymore." Her ancestors would be proud.
I did not, sorry sumi, but yeah she did look familiar.

Its tone was just so interesting to me, Jesse. Far more realist, less mannered than the other shows I watch. It reminded me a bit of Homicide, but that is probably just wishful/wistful thinking.
I've been thinking about summer. I've been bummed that we really can't swing a vacation. It turns out we may have several visitors. My cousin and family (2 adults, 2 kids) over july 4th, then my parents either late july or early august, then another cousin and fam (2 adults, 1 toddler) in late aug or early sept, then friend in late sept. Add to that, a memorial day wknd trip to dc and another wknd trip to b'more in either may or early june, and we are really quite busy.
I've been trying to plan summer too. My sister books all her vacations a year or so in advance, but I just don't think that way, and lord knows neither does my husband.
I hear Southland was very very white wrt the good guys and regulars, and all the ethnic types were baddies and incidentals. Did that persist past the pilot?

I would say no, but I only saw the one episode. I'm not sure yet how directly one can plot out good guys=cops, but I think the main pair of partners are white. The show itself seems very ensemble based, and several of the key characters (both in the station and in the community) were black or hispanic.
I think I'd want to watch a few more episodes before I gave a definitive answer, but my first reaction wasn't to think "egad!"
