The movers assemble my bed for me before they leave, but I'll leave it unmade in favor of unpacking my books first. That way, I get rid of almost half of my boxes and I feel very productive! Then I'll make the bed.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

have a box with all the things you'll need for the first day or two: sheets, towels, soap, toilet paper, a light bulb or two, possibly paper plates/plastic flatware.

Kleenex, paper towels, snacks, extension cord, flashlight, knife, scissors, coffee pot, coffee.

If I unpacked my books first, it would be a couple of days before I got to bed. I get sheets on the bed and get the coffee pot set up.

Our wings are not tired.

Happy Birthday Drew!!!

I've managed to store almost all the boxes I want to keep in my closet. You know, for the next time I do this.

You can store those in my garage if you'd like. We can put them in the Subaru tonight after dinner.

The movers did the bed because it had to be put in to the closet just so. But, yeah, stereo right away for sure.

The books had to wait until the bookshelves were bracketed to the wall, so I did clothes first. But then I did bookshelves just to be able to get rid of boxes and have enough room to spread out the kitchen stuff, see what I had, and figure out where it goes.

Now I just have to figure out where to hang stuff. But it turns out I have picture rails (or whatever you call them) so I need to visit the hardware store.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I haven't moved in 23 years. But I did help move JZ into our apartment and Juliana into North Beach. The latter being a mere car-load of boxes instead of a truckload.

I once moved my sister's entire household (two adults, a teenager and a newborn) in a packed 17 foot rental truck by myself. Drove it five hours up from South to Central Florida after a full day of construction work, and unloaded the whole damn thing (included washing machine, dryer and refrigerator) by myself. Yeesh. That's so far beyond my capacity now, it's hard to believe I ever did it.

Thanks. I would like to keep my wardrobe box and the stuff for frames if possible. A lot fits in the closet, but not the bigger/wider ones.

I was hoping to score points with the soon-to-be manager by giving him my overflow boxes, but it turns out he's already mostly packed.

Okay, whatever you don't have space for can stay with me. I'll be in this place for at least two years, and I only use 10% of the garage, if that.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

True, because the truckload was still in Utah. More importantly, you guys helped me realize I was going to be okay.

Seems like a couple lifetimes ago now, huh?
