I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

At the airport, will depart soon enough. As happy as I will be to get home I am a little wary of the cluttered mess of a house that awaits me.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Dude. Last night at 12:30AM our house alarm (Brinks) went off. Cue the scattering of cats and people! It was pretty terrifying. We had to check all of the windows and doors, which was scary as hell. We found nothing, thank God. Then as we were sitting on the couch trying to calm down, the alarm chimed like it does when a door or window opens or closes. Cue the freaking out and window/door checking once again! Still nothing. We ended up getting back in bed around 2:30AM and then kind of half-slept until the (clock) alarm went off at 6:30AM. Argh. Brinks is coming out to check the alarm tomorrow. That's a sound you just never want to hear.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes, GC!

As happy as I will be to get home I am a little wary of the cluttered mess of a house that awaits me.

I am just happy to see someone using "wary" when they should. Has anyone else noticed that the world seems to have conflated "wary" and "leery" and is using "weary" when they mean wary and/or leery??

No, that's just you.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Jesse, Gud is clearly trying to gaslight you (bad Gud! bad!). It's so very much not just you.

THANK YOU, JZ. I figured it wasn't just me. What has happened to the English language?? I grow weary.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Has anyone else noticed that the world seems to have conflated "wary" and "leery" and is using "weary" when they mean wary and/or leery?

I was reading a fic the other day where that happened in the first paragraph.

I stopped reading.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I don't recall ever seeing that.

I blame Otis Redding.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Leif's team still hasn't gotten in a second time. Four games in a row have been canceled because of weather. One of the canceled games was a make-up game.

It's driving his coach crazy.

Yeah. The rainy winter weather in the Bay Area overlaps with the pre-season of baseball, and you often get years such as this where most of your practices are rained out. Three years ago, I think all the practices got rained out and coaches were handing out jerseys before the first game.

As for my Little League team, after losing our last two games on close scoring, pitcher's battles (2-1, and 4-3 in extras) we lost 13 to 8 last night. Super frustrating game where the ump was calling a tight strike zone, it was cold and windy, tons and tons of walks, which had the infielders back on their heels and then making lots of errors. We're just back from a ten day layoff from spring break and they looked worse than rusty.

On the plus side, Emmett walked, hit an RBI single, and blasted a two-run homer (his second this season). A line drive over the centerfield fence. He also made a twisting, scrambling grab of a foul pop while playing catcher. He stepped on the bat coming out to get the ball and his feet were pedaling in place like a Flintstone as he tried to (a) regain his balance; (b) lunge at the ball.
