Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, after all of that morning-routine talk, I went to bed earlish, but still slept through my alarm until 7:20! Am now late for work.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Wow, I didn't realize the gender disparity in China had grown so great. 32.7 Million more men than women. Way to go ancient sexist belief system!

Well, you know how it is. Rural China gets left behind in China's economic growth, and it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to ancient sexist belief systems or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-Western sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

I keep seeing that 32.7 million figure but no percentage -- It doesn't give a very clear picture.

True. By my calculations using the figures presented, I make it about 1.15 boys for every girl in the under-20 bracket.

Damn, I didn't even know this was online. From Life Magazine online, a 1960 photo of JFK, Hubert Humphrey, my grandfather and my dad. Hubert H. Humphrey; John F. Kennedy

That is seriously awesome.

Meanwhile! I have just today discovered that my dad is the subject of a Wikipedia article (they omitted his jurisdiction over large swathes of Antarctica, but noted his judgment in a defamation case by two then-federal cabinet ministers called, I kid you not, Abbott and Costello), and I am two degrees of separation from Nicole Kidman. Oh, and I got laid off today. There's no Wikipedia article for that.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Damn, billytea. While the wikipedia article abotu your dad is cool, your being laid off is not. I'm so sorry.

“Not dead yet!”

Aw hell, billy-- that sucks (the being laid off part, obviously).

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh, crappity, billytea! Does Australia even do Unemployment benefits? (I mean, probably, but do you lose your healthcare too, or whatever?)

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I suspect being laid off in Australia is much less rough than being laid off in the States.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I'm sorry, billytea. I hope you find something great soon.

It's donut day at work today, meaning that in celebration of National Library week, I get leave the house early to go pick up 8 dozen donuts, then figure out how to get them to work.

After that though, there will be donuts, which will be good.
