"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Somalia is a living hell, and it would be great if the attention moved other nations, including the U.S., to help. However, attacking cargo vessels that are not involved in dumping waste or illegal fishing does not help the argument that they are responding to abuses of Somali coastal waters.

This is twitch from my years in the nuclear industry, but they're throwing around the words "nuclear waste" pretty loosely. Nuclear waste is not the worst stuff to end up in your backyard. For one thing, you can find it. The other hazardous wastes mentioned are much more immediately hazardous. The symptoms they're describing sound like heavy-metal poisoning.

The odds are the "nuclear waste" is low-level medical nuclear waste, which is not well controlled anywhere. (That's a whole other rant. The worst radiation exposure in North America happened when a radiation source from a Texas hospital ended up in a Mexican scrap metal facility.)

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Was it determined that the French hostage who died in the rescue last week was killed by friendly fire?

This particular self-righteous poster was unaware of that particular situation and will now STFU.

Blurgh.

ETA: The pirates weren't called out as killing the French hostage, it was just mentioned as happening as part of the liberation. So, yeah, you're right, not clear. I amend to what I should have said originally: "MOST hostages are unharmed."

in a Mexican scrap metal facility.

Yep, ended up in a lot of patio furniture and wrought iron work back north of the border. Or at least that was the fear in town at the time.

It ended up in a lot of things, particularly steel restaurant table legs. IIRC, it was first detected because something ended up in a delivery to Los Alamos.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Glam, where are you sitting? I think we're in the cheap seats.

We are in the cheap seats as well. I miss when the Paley was at the Director's Guild theater...

Heh. That certainly beats Coals to Newcastle.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

So basically I think I'm going to be in the same patience-lacking hating crazed mood for another couple weeks.

And then pms will hit and I'll stay in that mood for another week. FUN.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Y'all suck.

Winter hours: 5:30 get up, breakfast 6:00 shower 6:20 dress, makeup, hair 7:00 drive to work 7:30 arrive at work

Summer hours: 4:30 get up 6:30 arrive at work

I am not a morning person and it takes me forever to motivate myself to do anything.

Some nights I forget to set the alarm, and sometimes I'm lucky and the cats wake me up. Nunya seems to prefer yelling at me at 7am on Saturdays.

F***ed up my vacating notification, now have to wait a month more to move, hope to god that New Landlady won't force me to pay overlapping rent.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just finished a book (which will remain nameless, because it's spoilery) about random nuclear waste products! t /random
