The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It really is.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

it's just annoying AND sounds very shifty to me.

In my world, paycheck direct deposit should not be messed with. It should just definitely happen when it's supposed to and if it doesn't there should be both understandable explanations and a lot of groveling.

Happy moving, megan!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm sorry, Steph. That's really inconsiderate of them.

I'm getting most of my night garden planted today. It's for my front porch. I have a white clematis, a pale lavender passion flower, and a white climbing hibiscus, as well as white impatiens and white, old fashioned (i.e. fragrant) petunias. I'm thinking it'll be all glowey and sweet smelling in the summer evenings, when things cool down enough for me to sit on my porch.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Are your employers having financial difficulties?

Not that I'm aware of, but they also don't tell us stuff like that.

And office manager-type employee said that, according to the payroll service, the paychecks were NOT being held up for insufficient funds, only that "the Federal Reserve won't release the funds."

I have no idea who's lying. It's happened in the past that office manager-type employee has forgotten to call in payroll and we didn't get paid, but in that instance, we were just issued actual checks right then and there.

So it sounds like maybe the payroll service fucked up, because I really do think that if it was office manager-type employee's fault, we would have been told to come in today and pick up actual checks. Because Big!Boss is very VERY adamant about shit like us getting paid when we're supposed to.

Or -- though it just doesn't sound plausible -- maybe the Federal Reserve really IS sitting on the money.

No matter what happened, I still have a paycheck-sized hole in my bank account, damn it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What does that even mean, the Federal Reserve has it?

I have no idea. It's like a game of Telephone -- office manager-type employee was just relaying what the payroll service (allegedly) said.

Our wings are not tired.

Perkins' weekend sounds lovely and I am insanely envious.

And Megan, I was going to offer to help you, but it seems you've got it under control.

I'm a little concerned because Chile has taken to the puppy very well and they play (Chile playing! For those who haven't met her - my dog barely acts like a dog, and she is very aloof towards other dogs, so this is *big*) and sleep together. However, easy-going Chile Pepper has turned into "I need to guard the puppy" aggressive, even outside of the house when the puppy isn't with us. I am worrying a little, because having lived with a dog-aggressive dog (Sage had been a rescue from a dog-fighting factory - where she was used as bait)for 12 years, and all of the hassles that go with that, I've been really enjoying the past 1.5 years of having mellow Chile. So I hope this is a passing, transitional step that will smooth over when hierarchies are established and the puppy is bigger. Right now it's consuming me. But I knew what I was getting into when I adopted Cayenne.
