I got to get my bitch on and make the leasing manager (refusing to negotiate the lease, but then, I don't think she's clever enough to have an original thought) put me through to the property manager, who is going to try to clear some sort of deal through the regional office.

eta: gah I should not compose posts when on the phone.

Property manager is the one who went to bat for me with all the a/c bullshit.

We'll see.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Roger Ebert brings the funny: Thoughts on Bill O'Reilly and Squeaky the Chicago Mouse

The whole thing is good, but this is the best part:

Bill, I am concerned that you have been losing touch with reality recently. Did you really say you are more powerful than any politician?

That reminds me of the famous story about Squeaky the Chicago Mouse. It seems that Squeaky was floating on his back along the Chicago River one day. Approaching the Michigan Avenue lift bridge, he called out: Raise the bridge! I have an erection!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Virtual graffiti. I wonder what the technology is that allows stencilling.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Those are cool -- and make me think of Al Hirschfeld's NINA, which he put in all of his drawings.

“Not dead yet!”

Oh man... the catalog gremlins found out my weakness.

Stationery and journals and nifty jewelry and pretty soaps, all in one place. Plus! Chocolate!

I want this [link]

and this... [link]

And this... [link]

And this... [link]

And this... [link]

And these... [link]

And OMG yes, THIS... [link]

And... oh, just one of every damned thing.

Lewis would no doubt be most upset if I ordered the contents of the catalog. But... WANT.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Co-worker got a promotion, or at least a new title, hopefully it comes with a substantial raise and not more responsibility. Or, not more responsibility without extra pay. Lord knows the woman juggles far too much and is damned good at her job. I am sincerely happy for her, especially as she's in a worse boat than I am, being a single mom with three kids.

And yet, I am also depressed, because I am not management material, I am not a juggler. I am not phonecalls and paperwork, and I'll never get ahead in this field unless I am, which means leaving what I love doing, which is the design and installation and maintenance of the grounds. The idea of trusting others to do what I love while I do the boring political paper shuffling and compromising that is the director's job makes me want to cry.

Yes, it's all about me.

(I really do hope that she's making director's salary now, and give her a freaking staff of at least one!)

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The font portraits are awesome. I'd like one done of me, but I'm vain like that.

Things I should be doing:
boiling eggs
folding laundry
putting laundry away
moving clothes from washer to dryer
eating lunch
vacuming
getting ready for occupational therapy

Things I am doing?:
tiptoeing around the house trying not to wake up a sleeping baby.
looking up stuff on etsy
