It hasn't been put to the voters yet--that's where the test is, sadly enough.
Which, IMO, is BS. As a voter, I really don't believe that social rights should be put to a popular vote.
**Edited to say that I don't think Perkins is BS (unless BS in this case means Bacon Slacker), but voting on gay-marriage is.)
Which is why Vermont wins.

Exactly, to both.
Kind of like Cuddle Parties (shudder), which another co-worker attends
That is so TMI when it comes to coworkers.
So in addition to being all ITA with msbelle, I am also all ITA w/ Perkins on the voters vs courts when it comes to civil rights.
And as for CUDDLE, I have to admit that there's a few married first cousins in my family tree (not on my parental branch, but on some of the nearby ones). Evidently for Russian Jews of a certain village in a certain era, there weren't a lot of non-cousins to choose from.
Just went to a talk about a semi-successful* K2 expedition. For work. AWESOME.
I have no desire to mountain climb, and I swear I was getting vertigo from some of the images alone, but I love mountain climbing adventure stories. I named cats after killer mountains.
* 2 people on other teams died attempting to summit as part of a semi-organized group effort that day.
My grandparents, I think, second cousins by marriage. (They weren't blood relatives, but there was another Ransohoff-Westheimer marriage in the generation above theirs.)
I'm all for team building, but I'm not willing to risk death for it.
Someone was said something about at least no one dies in our line of work and I was all, um? We're asking a bunch of people to strap themselves to a whole helluva lot of fuel and get shot into space so that we can keep our jobs? So I think we can't say that?
On my father's side We're even close with our second and third cousins. When my grandparents and their siblings were all alive, we all spent all of our vacations and some weekends together.
Later, this did cause some uncomfortableness when we all grew up and didn't see each other as often. Ran into my dad's cousin's son at a club one night-didn't recognize each other at all until he started hitting on me and his friends asked my last name. We realized who each other were and got totally skeeved.
